Word gets around - Stereophonics. It is amazing, especially as I grew up in Wales and was old enough to get the album as it was originally released. Every track reminds me of every street I walked down. I just think it is a brilliant achievement to come up with 13 diverse songs with such mature lyrics and I dont think they've ever released anything half as good since.
Employment - Kaiser Chiefs, just very fun.
Up The Bracket by The Libertines, very good insight into how we as the lethargic, wasted youth were all feeling and acting ca 2002 lol.
I love the stone roses and she bangs the drums is in my top 5 favourite songs ever, but I was too young when that album came out originally, so I dont feel I discovered it, if you get me.

Ah! Stone Roses is ABSOLUTELY BRILL!
However, I've gotta go with Oasis' 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe! It's fantastic! Every song just pulls you in with the catchy riffs, memorable lyrics (and the interesting way Liam delivers them!) and the great instrumentation... Very Beatles-esque, raw, fun, honest and original all at the same time.
But, if you dig the Roses, you're most likely an Oasis fan. Am I right? ;)
Cheers!

I would say without a doubt System of a Down's self-titled first album. I think that one has some of their best songs, like Sugar and Suite-Pee.
EDIT: Wait, sorry. I forgot about Nirvana's debut album, Bleach. One of those two, I can't decide.
EDIT*-- Hey, "Bored at Work"- I Mother Earth is an incredible band! Dig is such an astounding record. I wish they could have broken the States market- they would have been huge.
