...then came back to Canada to help form one of that countries best known bands from the early 70's?
This man was also famous for his drumming in a sixties folk/psych band that played at the infamous 'Monterey Pop Festival' in 1967, along with other acts like Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Mama's and the Papa's etc.

Ronn "Skip" Prokop. The band was Lighthouse.

Ron "Skip" Prokop comes to mind. He was the drummer for "The Paupers" at the Monterey Pop Fest in 67, which was the clue I needed. He helped found the well known Canadian band "Lighthouse".
