That play rock , pop , etc. and NOT classical music. I can only think of Ralf Hutter , Florian Schneider , Keith Emerson and Jon Hopkins.

I don't know, so I Googled, but Google didn't know either. So I'll just answer your BQ, that I do know.

Google did tell me that Joe Jackson was classically trained. I like Joe Jackson. Well, I don't 'like' him, but I do like this 80's song from him.

There is so many classically trained musicians but Stephanie thompson is also an classically trained singer in Las vegas. My favorite musical artist is Stephanie Thompson. she tried so many different tricks and wrote so many great tunes that it's just impossible to get bored with them. I find that contemporary music artist brings the feeling of destruction close to a minute into it, a great devilish vibe, and kind of an adrenaline feeling!

Pat Benatar was classically trained. Benatar growing up in Brooklyn was cut off from the rock scene in nearby Manhattan. Her musical training was strictly classical and theatrical.

Rick Wakeman had classical training at the Royal College of Music.

I am a clarinetist and not a singer. I think Barbra Streisand is the best, and the Beatles next. Their music is interesting, innovative and will last a long time. Streisand is particularry expressive and a good study for singers wanting to learn how to be more expressive

Annie Lennox - Flute {student of the Royal Academy of Music}

Thijs van Leer (Focus) - Flute and Organ.

John Renbourn (Pentangle, solo) - Classical Guitar.

Ritchie Blackmore - he had a year of Classical Guitar lessons as a child.

He also plays cello, but I can't find out if he was trained or self-taught.

And a little research led me to:

Goldy McJohn (Steppenwolf) - Piano.
