1) Why you you like Metallica and for how long have you listened to them?

Because their music relaxes me when I'm angry or tense. I'm 18 and I started listening to them around 8 years ago

2) What is your favorite song(s)? Why? What is it about this song(s) that influences you?

Master of Puppets, Fade to black... I like the lyrics, and the melody of Fade to black is really great

3) Have you Been to a Metallica Concert? If so which concert(s)?

No, unfortunately, they haven't been in my part of the world in the last few years

4) How many people do you know who(friends, family, coworkers, person you meet on the train) listen to metallica?

Many (mostly male) friends

5) What do you like about Metallica that other bands dont have?

It's just the enormousness of everything that's Metallica.. They've been around for a long time and they have a HUGE following.. They, for some people, represent the spirit of metal, not just another band

6) Besideds the songs in your opinion, what influence does the band/band members have on people, society, yourself?

You look at the band - and you try to be like them in all the positive things that they do... And you learn from their mistakes... They show the world that even rock stars are basically just human - and that they can screw up in a big way too, lol

I like Metallica... It was the band that got me into metal

Though, in the recent years - I find myself liking them a bit less... Idk :)

Every song is a classic. Since the release of Death Magnetic. I mean I bought St. Anger on its release but didn't really get into them until september '08 and haven't stopped listening to them since. I now own all their albums and cannot wait until their next.

2) What is your favorite song(s)? Why? What is it about this song(s) that influences you?

Well today it's Fuel but I know it will be different tomorrow. Their songs just seem to make sense.

No but I know I'm going to.

The vast majority of people I know.

Robert Trujillo.

Quite a big one considering the size of their fanbase.

1) Why you you like Metallica and for how long have you listened to them? They are just perfectly balanced in their style and are raw. I've been listening for probably 10 years.

2) What is your favorite song(s)? Why? What is it about this song(s) that influences you? I have a different favorite every day so its impossible. Really anything from the first 4 albums is my favorite.

3) Have you Been to a Metallica Concert? If so which concert(s)? I was so cloes to buying tickets to Boston a couple weeks ago but they sold out.

4) How many people do you know who(friends, family, coworkers, person you meet on the train) listen to metallica? My brother listens but onlyy because of me. My history teacher is a fan to. he used to be James Hetfield's bartender in Berkley, Ca.

5) What do you like about Metallica that other bands dont have? Its difficult to explain. I;d say its the balance. I never get bored with Metallica.

6) Besideds the songs in your opinion, what influence does the band/band members have on people, society, yourself?

Well James is a recovering addict so he has a message to give. Also, in sings like The God that Failed and Until it Sleeps, Hetfield talks about cancer and the deaths of both of his parents from it. It is very influential. Also the death of Cliff Burton, the bassist, was life changing.

7) Anything else that you may want to include!!! please feel free to do so!!!!!!! Anyone who doesn't know Metallica should. They have changed the lives of Millions.

Im really depending on all you Metallica fans to help me with this essay. My teacher doesnt think that Metallica should be recognized as People of this Era!!!! Its your opinion!!!! so say it loud say it proud and help me prove that Metallica really is an influence on the people of today and that they are worthy of being recognized as People of the Modern Era!!!!!!

1. I like Metallica because their instrumentals are amazing. Kirk Hammett is my main influence and MY IDOL! i ******* love him. Lars is an amzing drummer! Cliff burton was the best metal bassist to have ever walked this earth, R.I.P. James has such a powerful hard hitting voice. I have liked them since i was 6 so 11 years.

2. Harvester of Sorrow, or (Welcome Home) Sanitarium. They both are just soooooooo well written. Harvester of Sorrow is so ******* HEAVY I LOVE IT! and Sanitarium is just catchy and makes me headbang.

3. Yes infact i just saw them in boston almost two weeks ago. I have been to a few concerts over the years, never seen such a wild and awesome crowd.

4. I actually don't know many, probably 10 tops. I don't have an exact number. but around there.

5. OTHER BANDS DONT HAVE KIRK HAMMETT!!!!!!! and other bands dont have the style of writing that all four of them use. Their new bassist Rob is ok at writing, but what Lars, James, and Kirk write are what really drives the band. So unique.

6. Like i said, my main influence (because Kirk is the reason i took up guitar 8 years ago) is Kirk Hammett. He is god in my eyes, no one will change that.

7. METALLICA IS THE GREATEST HEAVY METAL BAND TO HAVE WALKED THIS EARTH! R.I..P. Cliff Burton. September 26th, 1986.

1. I like Metallica cause they started a genre and have amazing talent..goin on bout 12 years now!

2. One - Epic song amazing instrumentation and vocals. It doesn't influence me as such...makes me hate war though more!

1)well i like the heavy bass and the message behind most of their songs and since i was about 7 off and on and then really got into them when i was about 13

2)one it just sounds good but it is deep and pretty dark and its about a man who gets his legs and arms blown off by a land mine while he is in the army he also can't speak, see, or hear

4)i know about a 12 or 13

5)well bands like pantera have that sound but not that message or story to their songs

6)well nothing much i think lars is mad at me for ilegally downloading his music

5) they are a classic metal band,not so much heavy metal bands were around in the early 80's, at least bands that were as heavy as them

1) ive been listening to them for 10 years now. i love how they incorporate actual music with powerful guitar riffs and sounds and deep lyrics.

2) my favorite song is fade to black because that song is just pure emotion. it makes me cry like a baby EVERY time i hear it. the way james captures emotion is incredible.

3) Ozzfest 08 in dallas texas.

4) everyone in my family.

5) powerful instrumentals that speak to your heart and soul. solos that make your heart race and wake you up.

6) james hetfield is one of my idols because of his accomplishments and the challenges he's overcome.

er.... if you ask me metallica isn't that great of a group to dedicate. before '91 they were a thrash metal band who basically said "screw you" to society" and now they're a bunch of greedy mainstream "musicians" who will do anything to make a quick buck. lol sorry i guess i skipped right to #7

i adore metallica but this is YOUR essay. if you feel like they should be considered people of this era then you need to write some ideas on why you belive that its not up to us its up to you to prove your teacher wrong.

dont rely on other people to write on a subject that YOU want to do. use your own examples and reasons why you chose them. not other peoples. be creative!
