I could see someone not paying attention and being slightly tone deaf making that type of claim, but not anyone else. I don't like nirvana. I did when they first came out, but soon after I got sick of them. I liked stp for a long time. I still enjoy some of stp's songs. I would be very hard pressed to find a nirvana song to listen to.

I've been hearing comparisons between Nirvana and STP a lot lately...frankly I never thought they sounded even remotely alike. STP and Pearl Jam, I can certainly see a resemblance there. I used to get "Even Flow" and "Plush" mixed up when they first came out.

no freakin way! They are completely different! If you listen to old stp their music progressions move around a heck of a lot more then Nirvana's, which based theirs on just a couple of note progressions. No they sound totally different

I believe that due to their similar grunge upbringing and the fact that theyre both part of the seattle grunge movement (along with pearl jam) that they do sound similar. Learn some Nirvana on Base nick

Nope not at all man. Now listen to Seether's Shaun Morgan and he sounds like Kurt, Seether has done some covers of Nirvana and it is spooky.

I think that STP and Soundgarden sound more alike and would be easily confused by people that aren't familiar with them.

With Nirvana, No.
