Question:
Drums - Double Bass Pedal?

Hi, im 15 years old, and i just bought a Pearl P122TWC power shifter double bass pedal, and i can't seem to get a good rhythm on it. im too used to using a single pedal. its my left foot im having trouble with, are theyre any exercises that i can do to get my left foot, and leg muscle(s) used to the pedal? everytime i try to get a good double bass rhythm, the feet either hit the pedal at the same time or the left foot hesitates, and makes an off-beat sound. any help would be really nice

Slow down the pattern you want to learn and learn it at half-tempo so that you can play it all the way through, error-free; then speed it up by 10% and practice until you're perfectly clean again. Repeat until you can handle it with ease and complete accuracy at full tempo.

its off to the left right? make sure its not right next to the right foor pedal, kinda of spred it out. just keep practicing because the musecles arent as built up, just like when you started playing the drums it was ahrd to get the beat going with ur right foot

foor me its the hardest thing ...lol and ive been doing this for over 30 years now....but i agree with the poster who said slow down....my old drum teacher taught me and i try to teach my students....speed comes in time the most imprtant thing is to learn the pattern first then the speed will come so go slow until your feet are used to doing this then you will find yourself speeding up automatically i promise....good luck and keep on rocking
