Keep in mind that only those acts who released their first record at least 25 years previously are eligible.

Here's who's already there:

Dick Dale - Master of surf guitar and guitar in general

Minor Threat - One of the most important punk bands. If they're gonna put The Clash and The Sex Pistols in there then they really should put Minor Threat in there. The band can be credited with starting the straight edge lifestyle and they also played an important role in the begining with their Dischord label and the way they changed the sound of punk to something more hardcore.

Kenny Rogers - A classic singer and all around musician. He's done it all from jazz to country and other stuff as well as session playing and being a writer and producer.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Another guitar master. His music has influenced many and should be recognized accordingly.

Slayer - Hard to believe it's been 25 years since these came out but it has. These guys are the masters of metal and haven't let up one bit.

Beastie Boys - Maybe not full on rock and roll but definitely more rock than Madonna who managed to weasel her way in there. The Beastie Boys are easilly one of the most important bands of the past 30 years. With their fusion of rap, rock, punk, and instrumentals they are musical geniuses.

By the way, I really dig your avatar! That was a wonderful 'Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band' double album compilation titled 'History of the Bonzos'...I still own it!

So add the Bonzo's to my list as well!

Edit - Sax Player...Frank Zappa was inducted in 1995.

Edit - bonzo_dog...Thanks, I trust you!

Lynyrd Skynyrd must have gotten in over the last couple years. If I recall as recently as 2 or 3 years ago people (including myself) were wondering why they hadn't been inducted.

I was going over the list in your link, and I based my list on that. I guess a couple slipped by me.

I still shake my head at the wankers that call themselves 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame' judges, and quite honestly I don't follow the hype all that closely because of their lame choices/decisions. It's usually a very disapointing affair...I'd hate to see their record collections! LOL

I'm curious...who would be some of your selections as potential inductees?

Well for starters, we have to safely say Metallica will make it in this year. They were eligible last year, but I think people decided to avoid it since it would be their 25th anniversary of the demo tapes, not Kill 'Em All. Well, now is the time...

This year's new eligible inductees look a kind of week. According to the future rock hall, the most popular pick from the 2008 newcomers is The Smiths howeveer I doubt the R+R hall will select them this year as they were not popular over here in the states...perhaps this may be the year where they finally put in the missing pieces to the hall

Deep Purple

Rush

Judas Priest

The Cure
