is anyone else getting tired of this...?

Question

ok o somebdy just asked a question that showed a long to the "top 25 best metal bands". i clicked on it, and immediately got pissed off. I am tired of people making lists of the best metal bands and naming bands like Metallica, AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Judas priest.

those bands WERE good, but when somebody makes a list like that, I want to see a list of bands that are actually active now, and weren't started in the 60s. bands like Machine Head, Soulfly...i might even settle for Slipknot.

to make things clear, I am tired of hearing about those older bands. they pioneered the genre, that doesnt necessarily make them the best.

who agrees with me?

I also think we should make a new genre name for these bands, like classic rock, only a more badass metal version. any ideas?

I totally agree man. Those bands were good when they were active back and it is okay to still like them, but it's kinda unfair to disregard active modern bands today! Give them some fuc*ing credit! Hell for all we know one of the bands today could end up being a hall of famer in ten or twenty years! You never know who among bands today are going to receive that recognition.



MA: Like #1, numero uno, absolute favorite, I have to say Bring Me The Horizon. I know a lot of people hate them and think they're overrated but that is my favorite band for a good reason: If I had never gave them a listen i would still probably think that all metal was just loud scary screaming! Yea I used to think that a long time ago! So they will always be special in my book =)



They're always gonna be my #1 fave, but right now I'm really enjoying Architects! They've quickly become a new favorite! I can't get enough of their song "Early Grave"

hey people don't hate on me just cause I have a different opinion. Which I don't agree. if the question just say top 25 favorite metal bands or rock bands then you should say older ones cause they're good. plus there aren't that many up to date bands that are good either. If you get what I'm saying just let other people say what they wanna say, and say what you wanna say.



na just keep the genres the same dude.

I'm sorry to hear that you don't like classic metal bands. And that is the genre -- classic metal. I, on the other hand, don't like most newer metal bands. I don't like the vocal style or the guitar tones that are in vogue now. Why don't you post your own question, about the Top 25 metal bands to come out since Nirvana? That should date things right about to the demise of hair metal and get you what you're looking for.

Sorry, you're WAY off on this one...one of the criteria for being on a "best" list is longevity...there is a reason why these bands are still mentioned and relevant today...in 20 years from now, I bet my house nobody will be mentioning Machine Head, Soulfly and...Slipknot?? Come on!!!



Also, the musicianship was 100% better than it is today...



Now the question...Sabbath and Zeppelin were probably two of the best...it also depends on what you call "metal"...Van Halen invented a whole genre of metal...Aerosmith (I don't really consider them metal) were probably the most influential band for the 80's metal wave...so its kind of a subjective question...

I heavily disagree with you. These people are entitled to their own taste as much as you are to yours, if you don't like it make your own list. These bands do have their own genre, they're METAL. It should be the new bands getting their own genres, for one. Also, these bands ARE the best. They only say it cuz it's the truth.

MQ: 'Tallica, and it's not gonna change just cuz you think they're too old to be included on lists of the best metal bands.

I believe if they want to list their top 25 metal bands they can list whoever they want....

dah you are in the religion & spiritual section. I have never said john 3:16 to anyone over and over. As for your problem with scripture--I don't respect a man who cannot give a scriptural answer. I don't care what he things. I want to know his answer is valid scripturally. If you learn the same scripture you may develop a respect for it. But I guess some atheist don't recognize that Faith is the outliving of the spirit inside.. to answer youre question, avenged sevenfold has to be todays greatest metal band. tight band, excellent live, with a rising guitarist. (no, im not saying synyster gates is amazing, hes not, but hes pretty young and has time to raise to a great musician)

I personally enjoy the older stuff better.. I guess there are more of us out there. Not saying modern metal is bad.



I've thought about combining hardcore and classic rock.. well, just imagine Sabbath with breakdowns. <3
