Not really - but in many instances that is all you can find by old Blues artists because they didn't really do albums as we know it today.

MQ2 - Chuck Berry's Great 28 is my favorite greatest hits album. I also love the Eagles first one and Creedence Clearwater's "Chronicles"

BQ - Elton is a master songwriter and an excellent singer and performer. His best days were when he wrote with Bernie Taupin but he still writes good music.

BQ2 - I love Seger's music - That's not one of my favorites by him but it is good.

MQ3 - I am a song person also. Some albums are Master pieces but too many have a few great songs on them surrounding by filler.

Absolutely not. An album has effort put into it and it's usually full of material that was recorded around the same time. A lot of artists work hard to put the songs in just the right order. When I make a compilation CD, it's just that. A mix of songs together on one disk. Would you consider Now That's What I Call Music an album? It's the same thing. Greatist hits CDs are just a means for the record label to make more money off of songs that are already available elsewhere.

mq2: Mariah Carey's #1's since I love all of the songs, but I own all of the albums the songs originally come on except for the three bonus songs since they only came on that CD

mq3:are you an albums or songs person? I am definitely a songs person. I don't really believe many people are albums people, if any. I only love about ten or so albums, but I love a ton of songs.

Yes they are albums no matter how anybody wants to word it. And they do have there use, as in people who are in to an artist all the way but only like certain songs. And I think that is good, that way a person does not have to buy every artist's album to get all the popular songs. They also have there use at parties, you can put a hit's record on without going through all of your albums. I'm talking most vinyl, as my collection is well over 3000 albums, so yes hit albums do have there use.

BQ: yay, great artist.

BQ2: yay but not his best work.

MQ3: an albums person or I would not own over 3000 vinyl and well over 600 cds and tapes. And the reason I am an album person, is because one never really gets to know what the artist is really all about, just by a few songs here or there. You have to listen to an entire collection to really get to know the artist. That is what is wrong today, to many people just buy songs to down load, and not enough buying the album. Which is another reason peope really don't know the artist all that well.

But as I always say, each to his own.

take care

regularly if I actually have a superb Hits album I even produce different albums too, or if no longer finished albums, a minimum of another single songs from iTunes. each and every so often a properly-completed fabulous Hits album is sturdy nonetheless. I each and every so often purchase them, simply by fact a brilliant variety of the music I hear to is on Pandora Radio or Dizzler or different information superhighway-radio variety issues, so i do no longer own a brilliant variety of the music i like at this factor. in keeping with probability while i'm no longer broke i will purchase some. the main earnings i assume of Greates Hits albums is to shop money and have the means to take heed to a minimum of a few sturdy music, or to get a sampling to get an theory of no count if or no longer you like a band. Bands I in user-friendly terms own A fabulous Hits CD From: Patsy Cline (incredibly is a competent CD, has all her terrific) Smashing Pumpkins

Good evening my dear :)

For me, there are 'studio albums', 'live albums', and 'compilation albums'.

Greatest / Best Of albums are compilations, though some do contain previously unreleased songs, usually left-over from studio album sessions.

MQ2: Ooo...

Stevie Nicks ~ "The Enchanted Works of"

Fleetwood Mac ~ "The Chain: 25 Years" [4CD version]

Mike Oldfield ~ "The Platinum Collection"

MQ3: Depends totally on the band / artist and the album.

For example, with both Mike Oldfield and Jethro Tull, with quite a lot of their music I'd say "whole album", but with some other bits I favour individual songs.

BQ: I like some {mostly the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album} - but really depends on my mood.

BQ2: Not doing it for me, sorry.

MQ: I don't consider greatest hits albums, best of albums, compilation albums, cover albums, live albums and EPs to be real albums. In my opinion, the only true albums are studio albums.

MQ2: Rammstein - Made in Germany (1995-2011)

MQ3: I guess both. It depends.

An album is defined as a collection of recordings, so yes, they are albums. They aren't what I think of when I think of albums, though.

MQ2: Joy Division - Substance

MQ3: Both, but I do love to listen to an album in it's entirety.

BQ: Yay

BQ2: I'm not a big Bob Seeger fan, but I kind of like that one.

In material, yes they are albums. But in the mind I would say no because not every song was recorded with the same band members, season players, writers, equipment, etc..
