.
Mine is probably, the Yessongs (live) version of "Yours is not Disgrace."

BQ -- Do you feel his solo on "Soundchaser" (from Relayer), was a "new direction" for him ? (it seems almost in a "Classical Spanish" style, though Electric, imo)

Favorite electric guitar solo is the middle part of To Be Over from Relayer.

Favorite acoustic guitar solo is the "Leaves of Green" part from The Ancient on Tales from Topographic oceans.

Good choice with the Yessongs Yours is No Disgrace!

BQ: Hmmm... It is very special, but he is always really versatile, and he needed to make it extra interesting since his one guitar was pretty much the only instrument in the song for a while there.

Great song anyway :)

Yeah I have to go with the "Wurm" section from Starship Trooper as well. One of the most epic parts in rock music, imo.

BQ: I think it's more intense than what he did before, though he had played spanish classical style before that, but Relayer in general for Yes was a new direction, so in that sense, it was for him too.

I think my favorite Steve Howe solo work is "Mood For A Day" off of Fragile. As far as the "Soundchaser" solo goes, I think this inspiring series of tasty licks is a fine example in his shift in style from a jazz-based player to much more of a fused style with spanish flamenco. I'm not sure if this was a new direction for him as an artist. Seems to me he has always had a flamenco influence in his works.

Tough choice. I'll pick the fadeout solo on "Starship Trooper" from the Yes Album.

BA-The "Sound Chaser" solo was different, but he didn't really change direction for long. The next Yes album was "Going for the One" and similar to his previous style.

I'm going to see Yes in February, can't wait!

I'm gonna have to go for the Wurm part of "Starship Trooper". When I first heard that, I was beyond blown away...if you know what I mean.

BQ: Hey, they were an experimental band. You couldn't expect them to follow the same path they always did, KNOWING Yes.

"Going for the One"

BA : I don't know if it's a new direction, but it is a little different. It still has that distinctive Steve Howe sound to it though.
