Best electric guitar for a newbie?

Must be below $100. I've been playing acoustic guitars for 8 years but I've never touched an electric guitar, so I'm not a complete newbie.

I would suggest expanding your budget slightly, maybe $200? Can't really get anything decent at $100 , mainly kids ones that don't even sound right. Westfield E1000 is a great guitar, runs you up to about $180. Has a great tone and is really functional, stock strings stay tuned for ages (try two years almost perfect in a room kept at about 25 degrees C which is quite a lot for the uk, I keep my lizard in that room so it has to be warm). Acoustic guitars don't need a pickup, and are made of thin wood, whereas electrics are made from solid wood, plastic, metal etc. which can become really expensive, so acoustic guitar price ranges differ greatly from electrics.

its gonna be hard to find a good starter electric guitar for that price. i got my off brand guitar for 150$. its pretty good for that price.

For under $100, I want to say that is nearly impossible.

If you wish to have a guitar in the $100 range, there are plenty of good ones, but expect around $150 or so.

Your best bet would be to stick with Ibanez, or Epiphone.
