Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd

So, so you think you can tell

Heaven from Hell,

Blue skys from pain.

Can you tell a green field

From a cold steel rail?

A smile from a veil?

Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade

Your heros for ghosts?

Hot ashes for trees?

Hot air for a cool breeze?

Cold comfort for change?

And did you exchange

A walk on part in the war

For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.

We're just two lost souls

Swimming in a fish bowl,

Year after year,

Running over the same old ground.

What have we found?

The same old fears.

Wish you were here

This song was played at my grandpas funeral so anytime I hear it, it reminds me of him and what a wonderful relationship that him and my grandma had they loved each other til the day they died and I know their love is still growing strong my grandma didn't wanna live without him.

And

Fade to Black by Metallica

Life it seems, will fade away

Drifting further every day

Getting lost within myself

Nothing matters no one else

I have lost the will to live

Simply nothing more to give

There is nothing more for me

Need the end to set me free

Things are not what they used to be

Missing one inside of me

Deathly lost, this cant be real

Cannot stand this hell I feel

Emptiness is filling me

To the point of agony

Growing darkness taking dawn

I was me, but now hes gone

No one but me can save myself, but its too late

Now I cant think, think why I should even try

Yesterday seems as though it never existed

Death greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye

I guess I'm not a 100% sure why this song is my all time favorite I think it was because whenever I get upset or depressed for some reason this song just makes me think that other people have it way worse than me.

Well these are some personal favourites:

Citadel of Stars - Iver (it's a cross between punk and pop, 2 piano players with amazing voices and massive skills, and everytime I hear it, I want to find a piano and play it myself. It's just so hypnotic, in an amazing way. Even if you're not mushy you can't help but appreciate this song because it's so real. It's not some fake cheesy/hoky song) ex:

"and until now i never touched an angel

and until now everything was fine

and until now i felt so ordinary

and until now i never knew that someone felt like me

and we're miles from ordinary

where bright lights can steal our stars

hold me tight and sip your coffee

then see minds dance with uncertainty(oh)"

I'll follow you into the dark - Deathcab for Cutie (it's a beautiful song, with amazing lyrics, and everytime I hear it it makes me feel sad, because it's about how much this guy loves this girl, and one day she's going to die, but at the same time it's touching because he wants to be with her forever)

"If heaven and hell decide that they both are satisfied

Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks

Then I'll follow you into the dark "

Not Enough - Our Lady Peace (it's an inspiring song, and it's got a good beat. It picks up as the song continues and it's got great solos in it. The lyrics are very motivating) ex:

"When they say

Youre not that strong

Youre not that weak

Its not your fault

And when you climb up to your hill

Up to your place

I hope youre well"

Earthless - Raine Maida (very deep, and it makes me feel like there's hope. That's what the whole cd is about. Very different but an amazing song) ex:

"She’s looking for some courage

She feels faithless, she feels earthless

She wants to run

She’s struggling for purpose

I tell her hang on, you know it’s worth it

You’ve just begun

You’ve just begun"

I hope these are okay. I know they're not hard rock, but they don't actually have their own category because it's a cross between different genres.

This is my fave song. It's 1985 by Bowling For Soup

Debbie just hit the wall

She never had it all

One Prozac a day

Husband's a CPA

Her dreams went out the door

When she turned 24.

Only been with one man

What happened to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress

She was gonna be a star

She was gonna shake her ***

On the hood of White Snake's car

Her yellow SUV is now the enemy

Looks at her average life

And nothin, has been...

all right since

Bruce Springsteen, Madonna

Way before nirvana

There was U2 and Blondie

And music still on MTV

Her two kids in high school

They tell her that she's uncool

'Cause she's still preoccupied

With 19, 19, 1985

Woo Hoo Hooooo!

(1985)

Woo Hoo Hooooo!

She’s seen all the classics

She knows every line

"Breakfast Club", "Pretty In Pink"

Even "St. Elmo's Fire"

She rocked out to Wham!

Not a big Limp Bizkit fan

Thought she'd get a hand

On a member of Duran Duran

Where's the mini-skirt made of snakeskin

And who's the other guy that's singing in Van Halen?

When did reality become T.V.?

What ever happened to sitcoms, game shows,

(on the radio was)

Woo Hoo Hooooo!

She hates time, make it stop

When did Motley Crue become classic rock? (classic rock)

And when did Ozzy become an actor?

Please make this stop, stop, STOP(tick tick tick) AND BRING BACK

Springsteen, Madonna

My favorite song (right now) is Hole In My Pocket by Sheryl Crow You can tell me the world is round and I'll prove to you it's square You can keep your feet on the ground, but I'll be walking on air You're pretty good at waiting While I go running around Well, that's just the way it is, you know I got a hole in my pocket You give me love and I drop it I guess I threw it away I got a hole in my pocket You give me love and I drop it I guess I'll throw it away I got a four leaf clover I'll throw it over my shoulder I'm gonna need it someday o When things don't go right you lead me Torn up and tied---you free me When life is strange you take me Through every change, you never break me You got a feeling there's a wall that you can never climb I try to be there where you are, I try to be on time But I lose my way oops... almost the whole song... they are my favorite parts, though. I guess I like the whole song.

Summer, Highland Falls by Billy Joel. Technically rock music but it's old, and you don't hear it much anymore. I'll spare the lyrics typed out, but I just absolutely love the song. It speaks of a relationship nearing the end.

My fav is Hollow by Godsmack

Godsmack - Hollow

One more step and I could fall away

If it happen wouldn't matter

And I can't tell if I should go or stay

Same old picture feel so hollow

How can anybody know what's best for me?

Another paintjob turned in shape

And my decisions brought me to my knees

I needed someone to blame

I feel so hollow

I feel so hollow

Time to do what's best for me I believe I can change

Once upon a time in broken dreams

Reflection's that I can't face

So hold your breath and make a wish for me

Take me to a better place

Time always seems to be passing by

It never waits for me

If I could do it all one more time

I wouldn't change a thing

I feel so hollow (feel so hollow)

I feel so hollow (feel so hollow)

I feel so hollow (feel so hollow)

I feel so hollow (feel so hollow)

Time to do what's best for me I believe I can change

"I know some day you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star, in somebody elses sky.....why, why, why, cant it be....me." "Black" by Pearl Jam. What a cool lyric. To me he is saying I love you enough to let you go. A live version of this song always moves me.

Your Gaurdian Angel By: The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

When I see your smile

Tears run down my face I can't replace

And now that I'm stronger I've figured out

How this world turns cold and breaks through my soul

And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one

I will never let you fall

I'll stand up with you forever

I'll be there for you through it all

Even if saving you sends me to heaven

It's ok. It's ok. It's ok.

Seasons are changing

And waves are crashing

And stars are falling all for us

Days grow longer and nights grow shorter

I can show you I'll be the one

I will never let you fall

I'll stand up with you forever

I'll be there for you through it all

Even if saving you sends me to heaven

Cuz you're my, you're my, my true love, my whole heart

Please don't throw that away

Cuz I'm here for you

Please don't walk away,

Please tell me you'll stay, stay

Use me as you will

Pull my strings just for a thrill

And I know I'll be ok

Though my skies are turning gray

I will never let you fall

I'll stand up with you forever

I'll be there for you through it all

Even if saving you sends me to heaven

I think "Pens And Needles(Album Version)" by Hawthorne Heights are really good lyrics and so are "My Way Home Is Through You" by My Chemical Romance.

"Pens And Needles"

I miss you most on winter mornings

as we drift we slip through evenings, whoa-oh

we drive into the cold and dark with fingers crossed

I follow your eyes to avoid from getting lost

And all I had was the memory of what was

so let's pretend it never mattered to us

I hope this message finds you well

Never thought I'd live to tell

Just to survive we do what we can

we read the maps and signs, and we make the plans

by our design I write it down to get me by

the worst time in my life

And all I had was the memory of what was

so let's pretend it never mattered to us

I hope this message finds you well

Never thought I'd live to tell

what's a dream and what is real,

the way I really feel

I hope this message finds you well

I never thought I'd live to tell

what's a dream and what is real?

So let's pretend this is the ending

(So let's pretend...[echo]) (this is the ending...[echo])

to the message I've been sending, sending

(to the message...[echo]) (I've been sending...[echo])

And all I had was the memory of what was

so let's pretend it never mattered to us

I hope this message finds you well

Never thought I'd live to tell

what's a dream and what is real,

the way I really feel

I hope this message finds you well

Never thought I'd live to tell

what's a dream and what is real,

the way I really feel

"My Way Home Is Through You"

Gonna take off all my skin,

Tear apart all of my insides,

When they rifle in,

Mom and Dad think you'll be saved,

They never had the time,

They're gonna medicate your lives,

You were always born a crime,

We salute you in your grave.

Can't find my way home,

But it's through you and I know,

What I'd do just to get back in her arms,

Can't find my way home,

But it's through you and I know,

What I'd do just to get back in her arms.

[Spoken in background]

(Well my gun fires

seven different shades of ****,

So what's your favorite color, punk?)

Do you wanna hold my hand?

Could you sign this photograph,

'Cause I'm your biggest fan,

Would you leave me lying here?

We're not here to pay a compliment,

Or sing about the government,

Oxycontin genocide,

Adolescent suicide,

I'll give you my sincerity,

{Don't give} a **** about a Kennedy,

Here's what I've got to say.

Can't find my way home,

But it's through you and I know,

What I'd do just to get back in her arms,

Can't find my way home,

But it's through you and I know,

What I'd do just to get back in her arms.

No way home why

[x4]

[in background]

We've got to go

[x7]

Can't find my way home,

But it's through you and I know,

What I'd do just to get back in her arms,

Can't find my way home,

But it's through you and I know,

What I'd do just to get back, well, in her arms.

I can't find the way

[x6]

Come on angel, don't you cry
