Buddy would have done at least 'one' disco song himself; as everyone else (non-disco) did...lol Then he would've joined The Traveling Wilburys after a 5 year break. After they break up; he would play keytar as part of Johnny Cash's backup band during the recording of 'Hurt'. This would bring him his 17 Grammy and the beginning of his newest band 'The Buddy Holly Industrial Revolution' and would sub-sequently get arrested (and then charges dropped) for 'smacking' Axl Rose up-side-the-head with a guitar given to him by his fanboys, Trent Reznor & Rob Zombie. Then Trent would go on to produce Rob Zombie's remake of Buddy Holly's (disco-era song) 'Catch My Wind', wich would remain at Number One on Billboard's Top 100 for 23 weeks; just one week longer than Buddy's original which was knocked out of the top spot by 'Shake Your Groove Thing' (which I have on 45 still! lol)...

This is what he would've thought about the groups you mention:

Upon hearing The Bee Gees own 'disco' endevours, Buddy just shakes his head at John & Yoko.

He never missed a live 'Village People' performance and for 2 years performed as 'Man In Glasses' before 'discovering' all the other members where really 'gay'. He wasn't hobophobic but just couldn't afford all the lotions!

Wild Cherry would certainly have brought out Buddy's Funky side! He would pretend to like them but in-private he was totally TERRIFIED of 'funk music'! Elvis had to come over and calm him down on more occassions than Michael Jackson kept his doctor's visits!

He would have like 'Funkytown'. There was only a wee-bit of 'funky' and him and Pee Wee Herman had made up a cool drinking game from the song!

Buddy's daughter's gardener married Chris Penn's limo driver who once drove Kevin Bacon around!

Buddy would join Peaches & Herb on 'Solid Gold' and become an 'Honorary Solid Gold Dancer'...

Ah, if only.... ;P

wow what a random question!!

i have no idea what his opinion of 70's disco might have been, but i do know that Buddy was a real innovator in music styles, he pioneered techniques such as dubbing and overlaying, and was the first person to pair rock and roll with classical strings in "true love ways". If he had survived, i doubt if he would have still been performing by the 70's - i think he would have branched into producing, so yes, i think he would have liked the BG's. not sure about the others tho!

Wow good question. I think that it depends on how he would have adapted to the the musical revolution that was the 60's. Based on where he seemed to be headed just before he died, maybe the Bee Gees because they were a little more diverse than the other bands you mentioned.

I find it hard to imagine. Buddy's own taste is music was actually fairly wide-ranging and growing. I think that he would have changed with time, but somehow I just can't picture him relating to the disco scene in a positive manner. Offhand, I can't recall hearing any comments from other rockabilly artists about the trend. Nice to see that someone remembers him, though.

He would have been amused. But I aggree he would have like the Bee Gee's. Yes it was disco. But they were different. They were talented.

I think he would have adapted to the style, but created his own unique tunes!
