I know Cedric Bixler-Zavala has a 4 octave vocal range (o.k., some say 3 1/2) but he's amazing.

7 octaves is pretty impossible. I don't think there's anyone who can. The most I know of is 5 octaves. The late Minnie Riperton could do 5 I know. You often hear of just 3 octave ranges though that people do.

Toni Tennille (of famed 'Captain & Tennille') has a 6 octave range and is also a 'contralto' (she does the deepest voice a woman can do and can reach the highest octave; as well as the one's in-between). Though you couldn't tell by her work on songs like 'Love Will Keep Us Together' or 'Muskrat Love' (LOL) you CAN hear her range all over Pink Floyd's The Wall album (she does ALL the female vocals and voices) and does the 'operatic voice' on a track from 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. Her husband, Captain (Daryll Dragon, ex-Beach Boys keyboardist) has a 4 octave range himself. Toni was the only female to ever be considered a 'Beach Boy' and is now doing operatic shows across the planet. :)

Axl Rose is listed as a Baritone (B1-A5). If that's true that's an almost 4 octave range.



Yma Sumac was a coloratura soprano which means she had a range of approximately middle C (C4) to "high F" (F6).



Freddie Mercury was a Legiero Tenor F2-F5 (3 octaves); up to E6 in falsetto (which makes 3 7/8 in falsetto).

2 Octave vocal range is good. Professional singers such as Christina Aguila cover 3 Octaves. However with practice you can improve on your vocal range as well as singing techniques. Keep up the practise and you'll end up with an even better voice!

Seven octaves! Dang. Mariah Carey's is probably more like 5-6. (I know that's Whitney Houston's range) I don't know, sorry. I'd like to know though for the others. By the way, 7-8 octaves is a piano. So, wow if true.
