Hey Dave, you're philosophizing today?

1. The Box Tops - 10/10 I Must Be The Devil - Ahhh gotta love that whirling piano nibbling, very much like Pop ya know? Happy go lucky... but *here* they actually infuse some perky musicianship to go along with the droning vocals.

2. Simon & Garfunkel - The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine - 5/10. Good songs, but they're not memorable. No distinct punch to it, it just passes by...

3. Crispian St Peters - Do Daddy Do - 10/10 now this is what I'm talking about! Here, the guys make quiet an effort to push the song forward instead of engaging in a monotonous crawl.

4. Waylon Jennings Ned Kelly - 7/10 - not bad.

5. The Blues Project - Two Trains Running - 8/10. Good but long.

6. VANILLA FUDGE - walk on by - 20/10. Thanks a lot for the song. The psychedelia, those synths and those emotive vocals... pay attention how this guy sings and what happens in the second song. Pay attention to the experimentation and the intersting structure and hooks... and you just *might* discover the difference between an OK song and a REAL good one.

7. Electric Prunes - Agnus Dei - 9/10. Some more experimental psychedelia I like it.

8. Kaleidoscope - Seven Ate Sweet - 20/10. 60's psychedelia is still completely uncharted realm for me and I simply LOVE what I'm hearing. Still a lot to learn but of the past and present. This song is long, and yet not a moment is wasted in ennui. Banshee violin ;)

9. Roy Harper - How Does It Feel, Television Performance - 4/10... still need to develop stamina for long country singer songwriter stuff...

10. DERRINGER, BOGERT & APPICE - LADY - 20/10 great heavy song with cool drums and nice guitars. These guys really try and if only for effort, they get TWENTY :D

Those dual guitars are just plain NASTY, if there was song I'd get back to, this would be it.

Hi David.

I've been looking forward to this one. I have to say I agree with Music Man on the image thing. It's quite disgraceful the offensive lyrics and sexual nature of many promotional clips needed to sell mainstream music these days. But of course there are exceptions.

1. The Box Tops - I Must Be The Devil: 8/10.

It's a nice song, and so many good songs from this band.

2. Simon & Garfunkel - The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine: 6/10.

I'm not sure that the key of the vocals suits this music which was really good.

3.Crispian St Peters - Do Daddy Do: 6/10.

It's certainly a peacful song, yet just missed on me somehow.

4.Waylon Jennings Ned Kelly: 10/10.

I had a friend who wrote a book about Ned Kelly. It wasn't published but I enjoyed reading it. He had a collection of songs about Ned Kelly, including this one that we often listened to. Unfortunately that fellow turned pretty bad. Haven't heard from him in tears, but I do hope he is not in prison. Anyway, this song brings back some good times.

5.The Blues Project - Two Trains Running: 9/10.

A top listen. The latter parts of the song are quite interesting.

6.Vanilla Fudge - Walk on by: 10/10.

This is quite a find. Really enjoyed that.

7.Electric Prunes - Agnus Dei: 7/10 (I think more listens are needed to porperly appreciate this).

I am not sure how to describe this song. So many sounds, so many changes. Was that a didgeridoo at 2.20?

8.Kaleidoscope - Seven Ate Sweet: 10/10.

I'm not 100% sure what to make of the vocals, but the music is amazing and definately worth a 10.

9.Roy Harper - How Does It Feel: 8/10.

This gained impact from the perfect placement after the previous two songs.Well done. Too simple for a higher rating, but a really good piece.

10.Derringer, Bogert & Appice-Lady: 8.5/10.

Great.

Thanks David. Enjoyed the music.

I enjoy your play-lists a lot more than the Hit songs ones. LOL - I am just not a Top 40 kind of person I guess. At least not after the 70's The 50's, 60's and 70's had some great Top 40. After that it became more of an image thing instead of a strength of the music thing. MTV ruined the music industry because it made what people looked like more important than the music.

1 - I Must Be A Devil - Been a long time since I played this one - a good group that people only know for "The Letter" - a solid 7/10.

2 - The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine - I love your taste my friend a great song from one of the greatest duo's of all time - 8/10.

3 - Crispian St Peters - Do Daddy Do - didn't know this one but it was great 9/10.

4 - Ned Kelly - my favorite Country singer - Rough voice but a lot of heart - excellent choice my friend - 10/10.

5 - Two Trains Running - I love the bluesy feel of all of The Blues Project's music and this is one of their best another 10.

6 - Vanilla Fudge - WooHoo - finally somebody mentions a song other than "You Keep Me Hangin On" Carmen Appice and Tim Bogert along with Jeff Beck went on to perform one of the greatest cover songs of all time with "Superstition" - Excellent song choice my friend - another 10.

7 - Angus Dei - This list just keeps getting better - The Electric Prunes were more than just "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night" - Angus Dei might just be their best song - 9/10.

8 - Kaleidoscope - I had to look up to see if this song was by the American Folk / Psychedelic / Rock band or the British psychedelic band because i didn't recognize the song at first - turns out it was by the US band. I had heard it before but it was a long time ago and I had forgotten it. great tune 8/10.

9 - How Does It Feel - Roy Harper - Roy Harper was so good that Led Zeppelin even did a tribute song to him called "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper" - great English Folk musician that inspired Led Zeppelin to make Led Zeppelin III a more Folk oriented album than the first two Blues oriented ones. 10/10.

10 - I prefer Beck Bogert and Appice but Rick did an adequate job on this - a really good song 7/10.

Great list my friend - I really enjoyed this one.

You've got some long songs there Dave! (But I like that.) It's going to take me a while to get through them all, but so far, so good. I'm working my way backwards - I'm on Kaleidoscope now.
