why do people like the band slipknot and other bands like that??

they arent even music!! you can't understand what they are saying and it sounds horrible!! i'm a rob zombie and korn fan but they don't sound anything like that!! i am just wondering how people can listen to that!

They probably go for the fast-paced instrumentals .. & the "hardcore"/dark style the band/genre carries. People just have different preferences.



Plus, even if you don't like it, you can still do a complimentary headbang..

Ok you mention Korn and Rob Zombie, how hypocrtical really, I've been into Korn since the first album in 94, and I'd be damned if I could understand a damn thing Jon Davis was saying half the time. As for Rob Zombie, I was a fan of White Zombie and his early solo stuff, but then I realized it all sounded the f**king same.

I don't understand how people can listen to certain bands, but it's just that they prefer different things. I like some of Slipknot's songs. I think they have a nice beat in their music and good lyrics.

How can you say heavy metal is not music? All classified genres are valid music. Just like rap, pop, jazz, etc.



Music is all about expression. Emotions connecting from musician to listener. People can be attracted to heavy metal for a lot of things. 1, being that the listener can relate to such angry emotions with the music.



2. Because of the dedicated musicianship, creativity and commitment.



3. Because of the critical thinking lyrics that question society.



It's all valid music, you just need to open your eyes.

yeah if i had the choice to be tortured while listening to every single Pink Floyd song ever made and being tortured to just one song of Slipknot i would pick the many hours of torture while listening to Pink Floyd.

well i personally don't listen to slipknot but do listen to thrash and death metal which also has those type of vocals which you can't understand. i love the instruments involved, the speed, the technicality. but as i read your question i was wondering to myself...how can you listen to korn. his voice is terrible. but hey it's your taste so rock on

Lets rename the question to "why do people like the band and other bands like that??"



The reason to any of these questions...it appeals to them....Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree appeals to progheads...Metallica and Megadeth appeals to thrashers...Arcade Fire appeals to those that are indie, and Alice In Chains and Soundgarden appeals to...well...me. People simply like the style of music...that's pretty much it.



FYI, I do not like Slipknot and tend to allow people to listen to them freely.
