anyway, getting back on topic. im a big nirvana fan but overall i;d say beatles simply because i think they appealed to everyone. people a fan of all genres could appreciate the beatles whereas some would hate nirvana for their downbeat /dark music lyrics

I'm a nirvana fan but the right answer is The Beatles

The Beatles was the one who changed the sound of music.of course nirvana had some effects too, but none of the bands could changed the music like The Beatles did..

I think Nirvana had a huge effect on musicians attitudes.

and about the dramatic scene i have to say that nirvana had the biggest dramatic effect in music.kurt cobain music was catchy at the beginning and lyrics were deep and it made people to think.for example the lyrics of the song "smells like teen spirit" is confusing when you hear it for the first time.

at the end

Well only time will tell for Nirvana but ultimately it will be The Beatles simply because Nirvana may have started the "Grunge" movement but that fad came and went. The Beatles are still around still loved and listed as an influence with a lot of musicians even today.

Nirvana.

They spawned an entire generation of angsty teenagers and led the world out of the dregs of hard rock and hair metal, and into this entire new revolution of pain-filled, messed-up lyrics and music so pumped full of hatred and emotion. Not only did they completely revoloutionize music, they changed the accepted dress and hygiene codes too. The Beatles didn't do that.

Nirvana was giving the worlds depressed, loser-type teenagers a chance to fit in with everyone else.

But, thats just my opinion.

The Beatles... A lot of the major subgenres can be traced back to The Beatles, the only thing you can trace back to Nirvana is a few horrible post-grunge bands (Creed, Shinedown, Staind) and maybe one-in-a-thousand indie bands...

Only thing Nirvana did for grunge was give it a face.

I've always been a big Nirvana fan since the first time i heard them, but always found the Beatles comparison ridiculous. In terms of what they did/who they were I find the Ramones to be a far better comparison.

so, The Beatles...

Obviously the Beatles are far more influential. Nirvana didn't come along til the late 80's.

Nirvana.

But to be fair, the grunge sound did originate with the band Green River.

The Beatles definitely made their mark on brit-pop/rock music, but can you honestly name a band that sounds a lot like them?

for me i feel that the are equal in different ways they came in to the world in different times and with different world problems we will never know what nirvana could of done but i feel both bands brought out the voice of the people that listened to them at the time
