I'm all for not being sissified (whoa, did not know that was a real word), but I do think trashing religion is acceptable and trashing those of a given race or sexuality is not. The major religions are largely intolerant in themselves and deserve criticism, whereas just "being gay" or "being white" or w/e does not infringe on others' rights.

@ Kelly... Not all Christians are fundies & not all gays have been in anyone's face (unless asked to) I live my life w/o protesting in public or forcing my lifestyle on anyone. Gays have never had "the upper hand". If that were true gay marriage would be legal.

We're all hypocrites in our own way in matters of discrimination. Therefore, I give up in a world where we have lost the ability to be honest with ourselves.

Every day. I am heartily sick of walking around on egg shells and worrying about what idiot I might offend if I express myself freely. I don't recall any of the idiots worrying if they would offend me with their racism or their sexism or their cruelty or their downright thickheadedness.



I decided that when after 9/11 the Yanks began invading other people's countries and dropping bombs on school kids in the name of liberating them. 86% of mt countrymen and women agreed that the invasion of Iraq was justified. They wrote "Kill Moslems (sic) on walls around my town. They began to use terms like "towel head" to refer my neighbours, a Pakistani family who in the decade they had lived in the street had never been known to cause any trouble or to harm a single hair on the head of another human being. Their property was vandalised, their sons harassed, their mother shouted at in the street for dressing as she chose .



And so I began to offend back. I called them fools and xenophobes. I railed at their bigotry and berated them for their ignorance. And yes....it was bloody liberating.
