Why do people refer to MCR, Paramore & Blink-182 as rock?

Because the term 'rock' includes more sub-genres than just hard rock, soft rock and glam rock.

Why do people try to exclude certain artists from a genre simply because they dislike them? I'm not a fan of MCR or Paramore, and I hate Blink 182, but they are rock bands. There are so many subgenres of rock that many artists fit into whether you like it or not.



@Maxx Blah thumbs up. I've only ever heard a couple of their songs, so I guess it's not fair to say I hate them. And I like that you cussed me out while defending your band, that's something I would do.

So that there is the definitive list of all artists who are 'rock', is it, huh? You can take your elitism, and you can shovel it, because it's not big and it's not clever.

The bands you listed are rock, but while I like some, others I find horrible. That doesn't make them less 'rock'. So your disliking MCR doesn't make them any less rock (nor the other two bands).

Those are all different kinds of rock...you know: hard rock, metal, punk, grunge, classic rock, pop rock. They aren't better or worse (in my opinion) than any other genre. I consider your entire list AND Blink 182, MCR, and Paramore to be rock.
