I'm 15, and my parents are finally going to let me learn to play guitar. I've never played any instrument before- how hard is it to learn acoustic guitar? In comparison to drums (or other instruments, such as violin, cello, etc), is it harder or easier?
Thanks in advance

Not any harder than any other instrument. One thing hard about Acoustic Guitar is getting your fingers used to the steel strings. Your fingers will hurt when you start out but eventually you will develop callouses on your fingers. Start out learning the basic open chords like E Minor, C, G, D, A Minor, and F. A guitar book is very helpful. If you have anymore questions don't hesitate from sending me an e-mail. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I think ? is probably full of crap. People that are good rarely ever brag. I think way over half of the folks that attempt to play guitar quit in the first year and the percentage is probably far higher than 50%. So that being the case how can anyone say it's easy. Hell no it isn't easy, it's frustrating as hell for the first 4 to 6 months. But after that it gets much easier, at least to play basic stuff. If you desire to become a great guitarist then there is a lot more hard work and frustration ahead.

Honestly, if you don't practice, you won't get good at it. But some people just get lucky and have really good hand-eye coordination... Some chords were too hard for me to play when i started playing guitar, because my hands are abnormally small XD but I kept practicing and I finally got that F chord :)

Guitar is really fun to play too. It is a bit easier than piano I think... which is the main instrument I play. Probably because there are only 6 strings!

If you love it, that'll be enough motivation to keep practicing, in which case it doesn't matter if it's easy or hard, you can do it :)

How long it takes to learn guitar depends on how good you want to get and how much practice you put in. How good you can get with 1-2 hours a day for a few months depends on what methods you use to practice. There are effective practice methods that will help you make the best use of your time. This course is one of the best. https://bitly.im/aM7X9 It's not just about how much you play but how effectively you play that will determine how good you will get.

guitar is one of the hardest instruments but any instrument is hard but it will hurt like hell at first. i played till my fingers bled but after a while youll get used to it.

to play simple easy songs it will be super easy, just learn a couple simple chords then your good to go.

but learning all the notes and the harder chords especially barre chords will take more time. but in the end if you really are interested in learning you will pick it up fairly quick.

good luck!
