Would you say Lou Reed is overrated?

I mean he had some good stuff with Velvet Underground and his own solo career up to the 70s, but he seems to possess this level of undeserved smugness and pretentiousness for a guy who, although influential, has not produced any remarkable work in quite a while, now especially apparent with his "Lulu" flop.

He was the "Godfather of Punk", and his work was groundbreaking at the time. I will wait and listen to his new collaboration with Metallica (whose last release was certainly their best effort in twenty years) before I comment on it. I'm not expecting anything spectacular.

I'm a HUGE Velvet Underground fan, but I've never listened to his solo stuff, and don't care to. The Velvet Underground was un-hip and revolutionary, that is enough for me to say that Lou Reed is underrated, if anything. You'd be surprised how many older people DONT know who The Velvet Underground is. Sad, in my opinion.

properly I have one which will ad infinitum rigidity me up the wall. GREENDAY, they suck like no different band I have ever heard. So thoroughly puffed up, supposedly punk, mainstream promote outs. What sucks presently are manufacturers. they could take all and sundry, and lead them to sound good contained in the studio, then get a reliable merchandising crew and initiate shoving them down the throats of valueless pinheads that does no longer recognize good music if it sat on their faces and wiggled. Your record is extremely good, with exception to the rolling stones. and that i'd possibly upload smashing pumkins too, I have considered them stay, and worse sound ever at a stay live performance. It became purely after paying to make certain them, that i got here across out the billy corgan, that pompous *** that he's, performed each of the units on the albums, except the drums. So even as they play stay, both talentless those that encompass him on level are there purely as filler. they don't have any authentic expertise, so that they distort the sound a lot, that you won't be able to quite decide what they are playing besides.

Hardly, it's probably because your only exposure to Lou prior to Lulu is Transformer.

nah, i wouldnt call him that. althought i do think it is fair to call his solo material inconsistant, his best stuff still stands up with some of the best material ever recorded.

His undeserved smugness is what makes him so awesome.
