Question:
Do you think another female band could get big?

In the indie - rock scene do you think the music industry would allow another all girl band to get big, i mean male bands get signed and famous at the drop of the hat (obviously they work for it i know that) but barely any female bands make it mainstream now in the rock industry. I mean of the top of my head i can only name one and thats Haim. Is it harder for all female bands to make it?

I think females have less interest in making music in a band setting. I mean, certainly the distribution of all male bands to all female bands is NOT 50/50. I think perhaps the sexualization of females has a role to play. Girls who can sing well dream of becoming pop stars with a producer doing all the music making for them while they just sing. I can't name too many all female bands, but like you said Haim is big right now, the Go-gos were big in the 80s (until they sodomized their rodie), The Donnas were semi-popular a while ago. It's kind of sad because I think people see all girl bands as a gimmick these days, making a double standard, which is a bit of a shame. I think it could happen, it just doesn't seem as common. It boils down to the fact that both men and women tend to judge women harshly on their looks in my opinion. If Haim weren't the hotties they are, they may never have risen to popularity.

Yes its possible and they are going to start happening more and more. The music industry is ever changing it never stops growing. But its hard to make it in this business you need to have that thing, and it always changing. Female bands are not as common as male but the ones that have made it are very popular. Whoever the next band is I will be watching it closely.

Yeah! Right now in that category male bands are a lot more common, but I think it's definitely going to happen. Like outside of the country with Kpop a lot of girl groups are really popular. It might not be for a while, but it'll definitely happen.

No. Not to be sexist. But male bands end up being better because of the singing. They have more power to the voice. but that's just my opinion.
