Hi Everybody,
Here's another install met of my Top 101 (mix tape rules) Countdown. Mix tape rules simply means that I only allowed myself one song per artist/band. If you're curious about the entire list to date I posted it on Friday's question, #66.

Here are some recent selections:
73. the Specials - Little B*tch
72. PJ Harvey - Me-Jane
71. R.E.M. - Welcome to the Occupation
70. Jimi Hendrix - Castles Made of Sand
69. Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
68. Bruce Springsteen - Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street
67. Jason Loewenstein - NYC III
66. the Breeders - Only in 3's
65. Okkervil River - It Ends With A Fall
64. the Zombies - Time of the Season

For number 63 I am taken back to a time before perhaps the greatest disappointment of my musical life. So much promise. There are many theories about what happened and I won't get into that. I prefer, especially on this holiday eve, to focus on the positive and give thanks for the two and a quarter or half, ok 3/8s great records they did give us. Enjoy a really awesome tune by a band that was supposed to turn out to be one of the greats. (sorry if I've offended any current fans. I do completely respect any contrary opinion. It's just how I feel.)

Weezer - Tired of Sex

So, what did you think? Was I too harsh? What's the over/under on the number of times they rewrite and repackage El Scorcho? What's your favorite track by them?

Have a really great Thanksgiving everybody. Thanks a lot for keeping up with the list and commenting and listening. I appreciate it a lot. You guys are the best.

Hi Prof, No you aren't being too harsh. My favored theory is that demise of Weezer was due to the departure of Matt Sharp. I was never a fanatic about them but they had alot of great tunes and I still enjoy Pinkerton and The Blue Album. They're a fun band when they aren't being lame.

"Tired of Sex" is a great pick. It would've been a toss up between "My Name is Jonas" and "The Good Life" for me.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I agree on Blue and Pinkerton, of course I haven't heard anything else besides Green which had a couple of decent songs but was really disappointing after Pinkerton.

My favorite song is El Scorcho (the original - I'm not aware of it being 'rewritten and repackaged') Tired of Sex comes in second.

I wanted to comment on #67, I missed it when it was still open. For anyone that liked it and wanted to hear some Sebadoh, I have an open ? about them with several links.

I never really liked this band. I scored the debut back when it came out, gave it a few listens and then packed it away for like 12 years. RiverS Cuomo seemed like Ethan Hawke's character from Reality Bites except he wasn't funny and didn't get Wynona Ryder so he had to cry about it all the time. I've come around on their first album and that song was decent and I like the Beverly Hills song sometimes. I recently broke out the debut and I've changed my mind about it. So I guess the first sentence of my answer is wrong. I begrudgingly admit this band is okay.

You have good Thanksgiving too.

Weezer are a band that I've never really got into although I do like some of their songs such as Buddy Holly and Beverly Hills.

I enjoyed that song though and it's probably one of the better Weezer songs that I've heard.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve Prof.!

I'm not a huge Weezer fan but there are quite a few songs that I do enjoy including that one.

I also like this song from their album that just came out. Here is a video of them performing it on Letterman:

I haven't heard anything else yet from that album, have you?

Weezer are one of my favorite bands, but I only really like their earlier music. I do like the song. My favorite song by Weezer is my name is Jonas and The Greatest man that ever lived.

Probably because of being steeped in legalism. I don't care for the term to love the sinner and hate the sin because if you love everyone, [and every one is a sinner], then you cover the sin, not hate it. For love covers a multitude of sins and love delights in overlooking a fault.

Happy Wednesday, Prof! How about another round of high fives for the short week...woo hoo!

I haven't heard Pinkerton, and anything off of it, in a while...nice choice.

I hope you & the family have a wonderful holiday! :)
