The most difficult one I've come across, in my opinion. Does anyone ever use it?

I assume you're referring to the F shape barred on the third fret for G. Sometimes I use it when economy is a factor. It's good to know movable positions when more efficient movement is needed for better flow and also to obtain an alternate voicing.

by g barre chord i think you mean the g shape barre chord

im gonna be honest and tell you that no i dont use it but its good to know

even though it'll hardly be useful for you to keep practicing on that shape work on the e shape and a shape barre's those are the only ones that are important others are just good to know and show off lol

when you were small you were asked to learn mathematical tables till 25 or so but did we ever do that? what was the use when we could use the formula? but that would make it easy to play a certain things if you are perfect in different shapes in barre chords if you wanna be a great rhythm guitarist then you should know these things but its not that you ought to know them

hope i helped

I agree with Tweak, It takes years of practice... My hubby's been playing for over 35 years, He was with the Ghost Riders for a long time. He still has trouble sometimes reaching those bar chords. I've been playing since I was 19 and still have trouble sometimes... and I have long fingers too. Ironbutterfly (from Ghost Riders) says you need to find a guitar that is easy to make bar chords on. He has a 1992 Pevey Strat copy with a maple neck. It only cost $200 back then and is a great starter guitar. It will make you WANT to play more and more. The strings should be .008 strings for the best sound and ease of play. Enthusiasm is the key once you have the basics. If you have a guitar that's easy to play, then your enthusiasm will grow.

Ahhhh, that's why Buddha invented "practice", Grasshoppa. Confucius actually use barre chords (incl G) more often than open chords.

Btw, Lucy Blue pegged it perfect. Give me BA anyway :P

Barre chords are good to know even if you DON'T use them.

But I use a lot of barre chords, INCLUDING G Barre
