Good evening!

For some reason I have never really got into The Band. Nothing I can put my finger on, but they just didn't get to me. I even included them in my "research" when I was "off", but to no avail. "Abbey Road" is very good- especially the medley, so I would have to go with that.

mq:

"Caravanserai"- Santana. Sheer genius from beginning to end!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caravanserai_(album)

"Surrealistic Pillow"- Jefferson Airplane. Essentially, the reason that JA figure so high on my "list" is mainly down to just this one Album

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surrealistic_Pillow

Gets messy now! "Meddle" by the Floyd is spoilt a bit through "St.Tropez"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meddle

but Dylan's "John Wesley Harding" runs it very close on a good day

mq2:

Have you seen or heard what is essentially a montage, "Bob Dylan Interviews - The Hardships of Public Image"

Smoochy, sorry. But it's not even close. Don't get me wrong, Music From Big Pink was a great album. I wouldn't call it a Dylan Tribute album either. I mean, they were Dylan's band. There had to be SOME influence there. But Abbey Road, of all the Beatles albums to compare it to, is so far and away better than MFBP, and better than practically any other album before or since, that it's just not fair to make the comparison.

Back to The Band, who I've seen several times live by the way, there is a bunch of good stuff to choose from. MFBP, The Band and Cahoots are probably my favorites. I'll throw the Basement Tapes in there as well. I mean EVERYBODY must get stoned, right? I think "The Last Waltz" is one of the greatest rock and roll movies ever made. Rick Danko one of the most soulful and talented musicians of his time. Sadly missed, as is Richard Manual. Levon is a treasure to this day. Same with Garth. I was NEVER a big Robbie fan. I think he's a self centered opportunist. Sorry. Just my opinion. And really about half the guitarist he thinks he is. The Band was so much more than Robbie. He just never figured that out. But all in all, they were tremendous and their music stands up to time. That is the true measure of greatness.

Bob Dylan interviews? Even Bob Dylan doesn't like Bob Dylan interviews.

Music From Big Pink.

MQ: Besides MFBP, I have this three disk compilation of songs by The Band. It doesn't say which song is from which album, though, so I can't really answer this...

MQ2: I've only seen a couple, and I don't know what they're called. He's pretty funny, though.

'Abbey Road', both are great but 'Big Pink' is a bit too much of Dylan tribute, they hadn't quite found their sound.

MQ: 'The Band', 'Music From Big Pink', 'Stage Fright'

MQ2: The 1965 TV Press Conference, that's really funny, the bit about motorcycles.
