Mick Jagger's voice annoys me but I would not put him in the worst

That's a pretty solid list. Here are a few others.

Vocalists

Wes Scantlin - Puddle of Mudd

Chad Kroeger - Nickelback

Gerard Way - MCR - perhaps the whiniest man alive on planet Earth, pure nails on a chalkboard.

David Draiman - Disturbed - how he got a lead gig is the eight wonder of the world. He truly can't sing to save himself, but he does have the annoying monkey call down pat

Guitarist

Billie Joe Armstrong - Green Day - You give me some intense lessons with the right person and I am sure I could outplay him, he is perhaps slightly better today than he was in the early 90's and that ain't saying much.

First off, before I answer the question, let me offer some opinions on your selections.

Vocalists

1 Eddie Vedder - eh... nobody ever claimed the guy could sing, and while I'm no fan of Pearl Jam, they wouldn't sound right with a guy that carried a 5 octave range

2 Jon Bon Jovi - depends on what era... prior to the New Jersey album, JBJ had an excellent and very capable voice. However, he blew his voice out on tour in support of Slippery When Wet, and he's been doing that annoying sing-through-the-nose crap ever since.

3 Brian Wilson - I've never had an issue with Wilson's voice, and it amuses me that some one would single him out when there are guys like Chad Kroeger or Scott Stapp running around.

4 Jimi Hendrix - Like Vedder, nobody ever claimed the guy could sing, but it's all part of the package.

5 Anybody That Screams And/Or Grunts Instead Of Sings

Guitarists

1 Richie Sambora - Sambora is a very talented and qualified player, but I think his abilties are dumbed down within the constraints of the Bon Jovi catalog. You're obviously not a fan of the band, so I'd say it's safe to assume that you haven't heard the song "Dry County".... one of the best blues based rock solos I've heard in many years.

2 Mick Mars - Agreed, but... Mars' abilities have been limited due to his Krohn's (?) Syndrome for years. I happen to have the aquaintance of some one who played with Mr. Bob Deal before he became Mick Mars, and by all accounts, he was a solid guitar player.

3 C.C. Deville - Yeah, I must admit, CC is a hack.

4 Vivian Campbell - Over rated? Absolutely. Top 5 worst ever? No way. Campbell was an absolute guitar god during his Dio days. Like Sambora, his playing has been dumbed down over the years due to the restraints of first Whitesnake and then Def Leppard.

5 Anybody From Nickelback MCR or such. - Can't argue with that.

Now... worst vocalist / gutarist.... in my most humble of opinions....

Voclas:

1. Chad Kroeger - You want to end the war in Iraq? Simple. Just blast Nickelback at top volume over the country, and the extremist / terrorist in Iraq will be killing each other to get out.

2. Kurt Cobain - The man destroyed rock music in the United States single handed. No style, no talent. He's reveered today because he killed himself. Some hero. Yeah, I want my son to grow up to be just like him... a strung out heroin addict who couldn't hack it at the game of life. Then again, if I slept with Courtney Love, I'd blow my brains out too.

3. Johnny Rotten - Sorry, but there's nothing even remotely redeeming about his voice... that's not to say it didn't fit the music.. but man did he suck.

4. Stephen Pearcy - The most over rated vocalist of the most over rated band to come out of LA in the 80s.

Guitarist

1. Kurt Cobain - See above

2. Anybody else that has attempted a guitar solo since about 1991. People jump up and down about the image concious 80s, but at least those guys could actually play.

Sadly there's far too many, and not enough room to list them all!

For years now being a bad guitarist has been cool. Just take a look at 99% of the neo punk/rock groups on MTV. So maybe being bad is good? It's paid off pretty well for Oasis, Green Day, Offspring, and a million other of todays ***** bands.

But if I had to pick one of each I'd say;

Worst guitarist - Ace Frehley

Worst vocalist - Leonard Cohen

I could write a book on bad guitarists/singers. There's allot of great material to pull from!

Wow! without getting all whacked out and trying to pick eras and genres and all that, i'll go with your list - it's pretty good as it stands! LOL! My GOD! Has C.C. Deville NOT become a joke unto the guitar community?! haha! what a clown he was. I gotta say one thing about Richie Sambora - if you ever heard his solo stuff, you'll know he was a WAY better singer than Bon Jovi, and his guitarwork wasn't as "schloky" as Bon Jovi discs. Lesse....who else? Tracii Guns , Come on! THAT dude is a hack! - Joey Allen and Rick Turner (was that their names?) from Warrant - Those guys didn't even play on a lot of the hits! That was some studio cat that did those parts! Aldo Nova! Haha! Aldo Freakin Nova??!! come on!! ok ok!! I better stop before i tread on some "gods" and piss some people off......LOL!

The guy from Coheed & Cambria is THE worst. Holy cow! How can people stomach that?! Also the Rush guy annoys me. Dan Bajar from Destroyer & New Pornographers has a pretty bad voice. Also, I think Billy Corgan deserves special note. Like Dylan, I think he writes good songs but would never win on American Idol. The Coldplay singer sounds great in recordings but is particularly bad live.

For guitarists, that's tough because bad guitarists are completely unknown, so you have to be at least decent to be famous to any degree. Certainly someone like Billie Joe from Greenday or even Kurt Cobain never did anything more than power chord progressions with some rare exceptions, and no real solos to speak of. Any teenager could learn a Nirvana or Greenday song in 2 minutes with guitar tabs. In terms of good taste, Yngwie J. Malmsteen was almost as annoying as his name. Same with Stevie Vai... I didn't like most of those solo specialists from the 80s who tried to be famous strictly on their soloing prowess. They all belong at Guitar World giving lessons to stoners and selling effects pedals.

I don't understand your list too well. It seems that you're just not a big fan of pop hair metal, but those guys had quite a bit of technical prowess (if not good taste), and I think Mick Mars had some notable solos in their early days... I liked the solo to "Too Young to Fall in Love" off Shout at the Devil. For singers, I have to say Bon Jovi is actually really good, and probably could have done well on American Idol were he not already famous. (I think most rock singers would never make it on American Idol because the focus is really on sheer technical versatility, a la Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey, which takes a backseat to energy and good songwriting in rock and roll. But I'd consider Jon Bon Jovi more of a technical singer than most rock acts, to where he could probably survive in almost any genre) Eddie Vedder and Hendrix had their own flavor that was unique to their music, and I never found their voices to be undesirable. And Brian Wilson... well, I don't know one Beach Boy from the next on a recording, but I do know he was their songwriting tour de force and was more interested in being innovative like the Beatles (which the other more boring band members resisted), so I wouldn't really diss him either.

That's my 2 cents.

worst vocalist has to be Brian Johnson but only so after Back in Black. Saw him in concert in '94 and his voice was trashed halfway through the second song!

Steve Perry - freakin' girl

Billy Corgan

Bruce Springsteen

Vince Neil

van halen, poison, and def leppard are all interior an identical boat - the song is relaxing to take heed to if thats what your searching for.. shallow song which you would be able to party to yet that doesnt cause them to a foul band, beneficial theyre not in eric claptons type while it includes making the guitar cry or writing lyrics, yet i doubt eric clapton might have arise with panama. :) and besides, eruption is a somewhat beneficial solo EDIT: and yeah, like somebody reported.. evh by no potential reported he replaced into as reliable as clapton did he?
