Me and my history teacher (and a few kids) had a argument on who was a better guitarist. Jimmy Hendrix, or Eddi Van Helen. I say Eddi is better. Sure Jimmy Was very skilled and preformed the near impossible playing the right handed guitar upside down when he was left handed, but still, I think Eddi Van Halen just sounds better. How 'bout y'all?

In my opinion, Jimi Hendrix was better. Eddie Van Halen can play fast, sure, and Van Halen has some good songs, but the emotion is really lacking. I sometimes like when music is more about being loud and fast over being emotional and deep. But when comparing Hendrix to Van Halen, I'm obliged to defend one of my favourite guitarists. It's hardly fair to even compare them lol. Two different styles from two different eras. I think Jimi Hendrix and The Jimi Hendrix Experience sound better. The big thing about Jimi wasn't really playing the guitar upside down. He still had the strings on properly as if it was a left handed guitar. The only problem for him would be hitting the really high notes since the strat's body interferes, which he clearly had no problems overcoming. I'm sorry but I can not agree with you that Eddie Van Halen is a better guitarist. I'd like to recommend the album Electric Ladyland to you. Get very high and listen to it from start to finish. After that, the conversion shall be complete :)

There's a huge difference between hard rock and blues, so it's hard to compare the two. I'd say Jimi was better because of the way he improvised and it still sounded good such as in House Burned Down.

Dude- there's no comparison! they play in entirely different styles. Recognize each for their accomplishents and for adding richness to our existence. Don't try to make one better then the other.

but- Jimi uses the "i" and one "m" to spell his name and Eddie uses "ie" and not just "i". There's no "Y" in Jimi Hendrix.
