It's really up to you and what kinds of music gives you the appropriate emotional response. When I wanna space out while driving or make the time go by on a long trip, I usually listen to some post-rock, post-metal, indie-alternative, or even classical (such as Mogwai, Deafheaven, or Animal Collective). These genres tend to either calm me down or put me into a introspective frame of mind. Occasionally I have to listen to something more upbeat for fear of falling asleep at the wheel, but then I catch myself singing or humming along to the tune and that kind of defeats the purpose of a "shut-up and drive" playlist. I would have a playlist for each emotion that you want to promote. Anger - Metal, Punk, Industrial. Reflection - Post-rock, Classical, Indie. Happiness - Rock, Funk, Ska Etc. Etc. Hope I Helped...
