Question:
In all of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's many failures, is this the worst?

In 1996, Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison and Mo Tucker were admitted into the Hall of Fame as The Velvet Underground.

Doug Yule was not.

True, he proved himself to be something of an *** with the whole Squeeze fiasco, but he was integral to the greatness of The Velvets' self-titled and Loaded. What would Pale Blue Eyes be without that bass?

Thoughts, R&P?

BQ: The following are the 2010 nominees. Who among them is most and least deserving?
* ABBA
* The Chantels
* Jimmy Cliff
* Genesis
* The Hollies
* Kiss
* LL Cool J
* Darlene Love
* Laura Nyro
* Red Hot Chili Peppers
* Donna Summer
* The Stooges

Oh, I'm sure they had some lame technical reason why they wouldn't let him in with the rest of the Velvet Underground. The Hall of Fame is good for that :/

BQ:

My 2 main choices of the nominees are The Hollies and The Stooges. As long as both groups have been eligible (20 YEARS in the case of The Hollies), I'm honestly Shocked that they are finally being considered. The both deserve to get in and it is ridiculous that neither is.

I'm haven't the foggiest idea how the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame works. At first I thought all band members were inducted, but the entry for Black Sabbath proves otherwise (where's Ronnie James Dio?). The entries for most of the other bands, however, include members that weren't ever actually in the band at the same time (e.g. Metallica, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones), so I'm not sure why Doug Yule should be omitted.

And now, a word from the Sex Pistols:

BA: My favourites on that list are Genesis and The Stooges. I don't really consider LL Cool J to be rock and roll, but the whole system is ill defined (and why the hell aren't Deep Purple in there?).

I hate the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame!!! How the heck do the Bee Gees and the Jackson 5 make it in when bands like Cheap Trick, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Stooges, Boston, King Crimson, Peter Frampton, The Monkees and Iggy Pop are left out? Jann Wenner sucks I tell you. It infuriates me how biased he is when making decisions that are supposed to be based on how much influence the band had on the music industry, NOT how much he personally likes them.

I personally LOVE Abba, they're been around for quite some time and have spurred movies and cover bands alike. They deserve it. So does Red Hot Chili Peppers- They have been around since the early 90's and came up with a whole style all their own. Very unique and inspired many people to become musicians themselves. I'm not into LL Cool J and I do not enjoy Kiss either.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, much like the Grammy's and Rolling Stone Magazine is just one giant failure. Some of those nominees are just ridiculous... And yes, Yule should go in with VU. That was almost a good call back in '96.

Kiss, red hot chili peppers, genesis, and the stooges get my vote... sure everyone knows ABBA, but after that disgusting musical Mamma Mia, It's safe to say I wouldnt count them as rock stars anymore

my thought is that the very concept of a rock and roll hall of fame is pretty lame.
