I've never heard anyone, personal or professional, refer to James Brown as 'JB', so I'm not sure where you're getting your history from. Nor do I see or hear any connection between James Brown (soul), Jonas Brothers (pop) or Emo. 3 totally different types of music with no comparison to each other.
Just a guess, but Holocaust Survivors and pre-Civil Rights Movers probally don't have a clue who Jonas Brothers OR what 'emo' is? They would all be pretty old, if still living, and may remember James Brown, but Jonas and 'emo'? I mean if you found a bunch of worms in your food, that would probally cause you to complain about it and I don't think that would take away or insult any holocaust survivor, civil rights mover or anyone else, would it? So why would a genre of music or a Disney pop band cause them distress? They made it through the Holocaust and if they're still alive, they've made it through 9-11 too. I think if they even HEARD (an aweful) emo song, it just wouldn't be at the top of their list of complaints throughout their whole lifetime. I think you're just taking this a bit too serious but your comparisons, imho, are uncomparable, to say the least.
MQA: The worst thing about 'modern day music' is everyone tries so hard now to be 'the next big thing' that all we listeners end up with are lots of bands/performers doing lots of 'little things'. Newer bands are afraid to step out of the norm because if they do, then they're record company will drop them after that first or 2nd album and then we never hear from them again, so that keeps them afraid of experimenting a little bit more and being more innovative and original. I call myself 'Cookie Cutter' on here because I'm just another version of all of you guys. I don't really feel the that we're all 'programmed the same' but I believe that's what the media tries to make us; thus I 'jokingly' call myself 'Cookie Cutter' as to spoof us all as clones of genres and sub-genres. But in reality, we need, and/or our bands need to be more individual and not just 'cookie cut-outs' of whatever band is currently the trend. They want us to be clones and buy the cloned music. So it's in our power to choose and listen to the bands that are making life interesting to us instead of 'just what's playing on the radio'. We need to stand up and shout "WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT"! LOL!
