do you ever listen to songs and get reminded of past events? good or bad?

i do all the time, death cab for cutie and a lot of other indie rock reminds me of my junior year of high school and cruising around with my *then* best friend.

certain songs remind me of really bad times, like mickey avalon "my dick" will now be horribly construed with a roadtrip from hell involving drugs (of which i didnt partake) and my friend with a pipe in her mouth then the belligerent argument that followed (mostly me using profanity).

*btw, i deleted my last question when some people it might make me even more hated. i didnt mean for that to happen*

The party boy theme from jackass reminds me of when my friend does this weird stripper/raver dance at lunch while he plays some weird rave/disco/pop music [which might actually be the Party Boy theme but I haven't really heard it while he dances because its too loud in our hang out spot].

Hmm...

Hot For Teacher by Van Halen reminds me of when me and my, as well, *then* friend used to listen to Classic Rock together at lunch and trade CD's and imagine Van Halen or AC/DC playing a concert in the school yard. That was like 4 or so years ago.

That's all I can think of at the moment. There are other songs that remind me of people, but not events.

good question.

All the time. For example, whenever I hear "I Kiss a Drunk Girl" by Something Corporate, I always think of my freshman year of college. My friends and I decided it would be a perfect theme song for the school, as it seemed that everyone was drunk almost all of the time. When I hear "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" by Sophie B Hawkins, it reminds me of the last week of freshman year. Two of my friends from down the hall finished with finals early and were bored, so they learned the words and the guitar part to that song and serenaded us. It was pretty funny. "The Sounds of Silence" by Simon and Gerfunkel always makes me think of summer camp because we used to sing that song all the time when I was a camper. It also just generally makes me think of summer for the same reason. There are many many more, but yes, songs remind me of various things all the time.

The only reason I like The Dixie Chicks is because I loved them when I was really little, when times were good. A lot of The Beatles songs that are supposed to be happy make me cry, like "Across The Universe" and "Here Comes The Sun". I also listened to them a lot when I was really little, so The Beatles are a very emotional band for me...

Yeah, You Really Got a Hold on Me by the Beatles reminds me of when I was in training for a volunteer job at the aquarium here, which is a happy memory, but it makes me sad because its over. I had it stuck in my head that day.

Yes I listen to "Just Like You", by Three Days Grace and Alexz Johnson's "Skin" all the time. They descrbe the kind of relationship I had with* dear old dad*. It reminds me I will never live up to his expectations and it also reminds me I don't really care.

yeah totally! its always happens to me... most of the times i think of things im nervous or scared about, but i think its good for you. Ive even cried a few times during some songs just cause i can get a little frustrated. Its good for you, and what ever your thinking about means that that was a learning time for you or something you wish could happen. Have funn... keep dreaming:))

Ignore that pathetic comment about aids, songs tug at your emotions and feelings, i get goose bumps when listening to really good songs or parts of a song that i like

Definitely without doubt. Avenged Sevenfold reminds me of my ex 100%. Just like tasting chocolate when you eat it. Lots of the music I hear has reminiscences.

I get that all the time. if i listen to the red jumpsuit apparatus or a change of pace i get reminded of driving in my car smoking marlboro milds. whenever i first started listening to the cd or the song is what i get reminded of whenever i listen to it again. its nice sometimes but sometimes it sucks..like if i listen to A.F.I.'s cd sing the sorrow..not wonderful memories. but for the most part its nice :)

"Can't Stop" by the Chili Peppers reminds me of one of my ex-boyfriends and a subsequently depressing junior year, but I am still grateful that he introduced me to them and that song because it is what got me into most of the music that I listen to now.

Coldplay's "Yellow" and "Shiver" strongly remind me of junior high. The very beginning of my love for music.
