It isn't exactly an "Iron Maiden's greatest hits" setlist, but I am curious as to comments and opinions. If you google this some more you will find commentary by some who attended the first show in Dallas on Wednesday, June 9th. Opinion appeared to be mixed from those there on opening night.

The Wicker Man (great song)

Ghost Of The Navigator (Great Song)

Brighter Than A Thousand Suns (good song)

El Dorado (good song)

Paschendale (Great song)

The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg (Meh)

These Colours Don't Run (Meh)

Blood Brothers (Meh)

Wildest Dreams (Good song)

No More Lies (Good Song)

Brave New World (Really Good SOng)

Fear Of The Dark (Overrated but fun at concerts)

Iron Maiden (Great SOng)

Number Of The Beast (Classic must have)

Hallowed Be Thy Name (Greatest Maiden song ever)

Running Free (Great song)

If that set list holds true throughout the Tour, I will be happy. Having just come off their "Somewhere Back in Time" tour, I think stocking it too heavily w/ 80s Maiden would not only be redundant, but also acting like they don't think their newer stuff is good enough.

I really like the focus on Post 2000 tracks, mixed with a few Maiden stand bys, as I think there post 2000 stuff is fantastic, for the most part. Would I prefer they open with Aces High, and maybe lose one or two other tracks? Yeah. Will it in anyway dampen my enjoyment?

Heck No.

It's a strong set, and tbh, I have heard Flight of Icarus, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Wasted Years, et al.. so often in concert.. not that it gets old, but it's nice to show respect to the rest of their discography. I actually would like to see a few others like the Clansman done to show a nod to their Blaze years more... overall, not their best experiment, but there were still some good tunes... just the wrong singer for the bands style.

I am particularly happy to see Ghost of the Navigator and Paschendale on the list. If I had a complaint... it is having The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg, These Colours Don't Run, Blood Brothers all bunched together... as I find none of those songs really interesting.. so it'll be almost 20 minutes of boredom.

The rest of the Set List is more exciting... I am wondering as they get closer to the release date if they are going to swap out a few songs to add more off the new album..I am certain they will after it comes out. One thing for sure.. they end on a high note.. that is a fantastic encore set.

**Edit.. well, I love both substitute tracks.. just wish they didn't yank Paschendale to make em. These colors don't run and reincarnation seem a lot more expendable to this Maidenhead.

Well, I could be wrong but I would guess it will change somewhat once the album has actually been released.

I think it's okay. Woulda been nice to scatter a couple of older tracks in the main part of the set more. It's great they aren't just a nostalgia band & can pull off playing songs written well over 20 years into their career but I think they sometimes need to be a little careful & consider non die hard fans that do wanna hear the "hits". Yes, there are some included towards the end but a bit of a mix up would perhaps be a little better pace wise.

I remember the mainly bad reaction of them playing AMOLAD in it's entirety a couple of years back & I have to say I did agree with that. Great for a fan club gig but really not right for a whole tour. It takes a lot for me to criticize them but just because I love them doesn't mean I'm blind to their 'faults' & on that occasion I think that decision was a wrong one. That wasn't the question though so I'm sorry for digressing!!

The current set? They aren't necessarily the songs I would pick for their set list but you aren't going to please everyone. I think they have certainly picked strong songs from the 00's period so yeah, not upset by it.

Oooooh boy!

They're playing San Antonio on Saturday night.

S.A. is an uber-conservative town when it comes to Maiden. Hell, local radio plays mainly 'THE pre-'87 hits' i.e. Run to the Hills, Trooper, etc. & most "fans" are the casual type that last saw them on the Powerslave tour.

As fans here 'go with what they know' (heck, the Lost Somewhere in Time tour started here!!), there may be a lot of confused, if not hostile, faces in the crowd. Though I love 'em, I have to admit their last album I bought was Fear of the Dark. I listened to it a lot then &, not surprisingly, on their tour stop here to promote FotD I was one of a handful of fans who got off to the then-new songs.

Everybody else just kicked back til Flight of Icarus, etc.

Definitely a good setlist, though, for everybody that's been snatching up their 21st Century catalog!

honestly i think it's terrible. it's all songs from their last 3-4 albums and those songs are so long and boring that i cant imagine how the show is going to turn out. now i'm all for bands 'mixing it up' when they do live shows. i get the reason why they do that. they dont want to get bored and all. but if you're going to mix it up, you have to add in songs from your past as well. even if they've been played a ton of times. so they should drop A FEW tunes that they may be tired of playing and add in either different tunes from that era or a tune from a newer album. but jesus, dont fill your set up with 7-8-9-10 minute snoozefests when the crowd came to rock out. and they left out all the songs that i think people really came to see. with the exception of the closing few songs. thankfully maiden is skipping florida for this part of the american tour and there is a rumor that they may be coming to florida in 2011. hopefully by then the setlist will be a little more of whats expected with some surprises thrown in. HOPEFULLY.

it's alright

not for the casual fan

i would have picked some other new songs myself

but i'm still stoked

there will be more tours different setlists

they made two big blunders on tour though imo

this is america i think they are losing the chance to gain new fans

take one long new song out put in two shorter classics or even older album tracks

and for god sake mix them in a little not 75 minutes into the show bang all the classics

Even though I would change some of them, I'm still going to try my best to make it, and not complain one single bit. It's Iron Freakin Maiden for cryin' out loud.
