The Flaming Lips are back to releasing new music, though no proper album is in the works. The release is a very limited vinyl EP, in collaboration with Neon Indian, entitled "Is David Bowie Dying?" It was released very low key and by word-of-mouth with certain indie stores having exclusive access to the record directly from the band

Before anyone takes offense at the title, I need to let you know that etched into the vinyl on the A side it says 'The Flaming Lips Hope David Bowie Isn't Dying!!!' and on the B side it says 'The Flaming Lips will always love you!!!'"

about the song.. really , really weird. Something I'd listen to before I went to sleep. It's actually something you'd expect to find on Bowie's Outside or Buddha of Suburbia albums, I wish this was a Bowie song now lol.

The Flaming Lips and Bowie mentioned in the same question! My favourite existing band and favourite artiste, how cool is that? I'd never heard about this ep until this question so it really must be very low key indeed. I absolutely love your link, it keeps with the feel of ''Embryonic'' plus the guitar part sounds like it was from ''Yoshimi'' era Lips. I must somehow find a copy. Supposedly every ep is signed by Wayne too.



Heve you heard about their new 'Experiment''? The ''Two Blobs Fu**ing'' thing? It's pretty much the ditigal version of the ''Parking Lot Experiments'' they held in the late nineties, and the 'Zaireeka'' album.

the band must mean it in metaphore because he hasn't done anything new or toured since 2003. just some acting jobs and a little work for other artists.



Bowie is 64 years old and he hasn't done anything for about 8 years. I think he is easing into an unannounced retirement as far as new material or perhaps touring again. REGARDLESS his legacy will never die, he will always be a legend in the pop community dead or alive, active or retired. I am sure his health is fine.
