What the (insert profanity here) does having "Bonnie Raitt fingers" even mean?

The local jerk at the music store (who has always been a pig to me, openly saying that he doesn't believe girls should play the guitar), while adjusting my Gibson Les Paul Supreme, suggested that I get a smaller guitar for "Bonnie Raitt fingers"... He did a good job with the adjustment, I paid him and then told him to screw himself, I love my Les Pauls. I basically pretended like I knew what he meant, but I really don't lol

Bonnie played standard guitars, with a slide. I don't get it. Thoughts?

I really doubt he means any of it. He probably likes you and is trying to get a reaction so he can read what kind of girl you are.

Bonnie raitt had short fingers and/or small hands. He's implying that girls hands/fingers are too small and therefore they can't play well, which is complete bullshit. That guy sounds like a sexist idiot, girls shouldn't play guitar? How about Joan Jett or Lita Ford? I'm a girl and I play guitar and I practice 5 hours a day, I can play just as good as any guy my age I've Met. Having small fingers doesn't make you a worse guitarist, hell Django Reinhardt only had two fingers and he was still brilliant. Dont listen to him, Joan Jett had a guitar teacher as a teenager and when she said she wanted to play electric he told her girls don't play electric, here's an acoustic, she ended up being a famous rock n roll singer/guitarist. If you can just stop going there otherwise if he isn't the owner make a complaint to the owner. That dumbass doesn't seem to realize if girls didn't play guitr well that's just less business for him, and if he is just an employee not the owner I'm sure th owner won't be happy to know that he could be turning away female clients. End of rant ha anyway yeah Bonnie raitt just had small fingers, the fact he even said girls shouldn't play guitar and Bonnie raitt together is hilarious.

What a turd. If I were you I would not patronize that establishment anymore. Or talk to the owner/manager about this douchbag.

He's probably hoping he can sneak something past you, so he can brag to his friends about how he duped a stupid girl. Very similar to douchebag mechanics or car salesmen. Guys like that are just sad excuses for a man. They can be such pigs. I apologize for the stupidity of many of my gender.



You should go ahead and learn how to adjust guitars on your own. I've been working on my own guitars since I was a 15 year old. All the standard adjustments are actually very simple to do. Bridge heights, intonations, replacing machine heads, adjustng a tremolo, are all very easy to do.

Even replacing a tremolo bridge or resoldering input jacks or installing a pickup in an acoustic. I even re-built a 12 string once I found in a garage.



I only would take a guitar in for major work like re-fretting or nut replacement. Or a complete re-wire job. (I could probably do THAT, but would just feel better having a pro do it)



You can do just as good a job as he can, I'm sure.
