Question:
Should I get a splash or a 2nd crash cymbal?

I'm thinking about buying a new cymbal. Which one would probably be good for a person who plays a variety of musical styles? Any advice would be awesome. I have hi-hats, a ride, a crash, and a china.

Also, would you recommend Pulse or Meinl for any cymbals?

NOPE???

Get a splash, lets face it, the difference between two slightly different size cymbals doesn't make a difference in the big scheme of things. That's why a variety of cymbals is good.. Think about it.

China - Unique sound

Hi-hat - Unique sound

Ride - Unique sound

Crash - Unique sound

Splash - Unique sound, but you do not own one yet

Why get two crashes right now when a slight pitch difference won't do ANYTHING? You can get a splash and have something that is guaranteed to sound different.

Hmm, get another Crash, its killer when you hit both crashes at the same time, and I'm a Menil fan, my favorite drummer actually uses Meinl, I don't know, they also seem to be the underdog of cymbals, everyone just loves Sabian and Zildjian, but Meinl just kicks a$s, that's what I think

Im a drummer too I would go with a 2nd crash. I don't recommend either one of those but it's a matter of preference I guess. I would go with an Istanbul Agop crash cymbal it is the absolute best cymbal I have ever had. They go for a little more money but hand hammered is always the best quality sounding. http://mycymbal.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=49_51&products_id=4690

I would get a second crash before a splash. But as noted above, get a crash that is substantially different from the one you have. All the brands you mentioned and mentioned above are fine. Go to your local drum shop and try all the ones they have. Listen to the one that calls to you.
