I haven't downladed separate songs in a while, and I kind of miss it. I've just been buying albums lately.

What are some great songs you'd like to recommend to me?
Preferably not really heard of, but you can really recommend almost anything. Any genre, subgenre, any decade is fine. It doesn't even have to be Rock. My only requirement is that you recommend songs rather than bands or albums.

Recommend as many or as few as you like. Thanks!

And happy Friday to you all!

OK so here's 10 songs of various genres that I think MOST people aren't really aware of. Hopefully these become new treasured songs for you:

The Beach Boys "Til I Die" - This song is COMPLETELY different from their usual "sun and fun, cars and girls" stereotype. Off their SURF'S UP album (which is also NOT about surfing.)

Elvis Costello and Jimmy Cliff "Seven Day Weekend" - This one is a cover of an obscure Gary "U.S." Bonds song that not very many people know because it's only on the soundtrack to an 80s Robin Williams movie. ("Club Paradise" if you care) One of the best "can't wait until the frickin' work week is OVER!" songs there is.

LCD Soundsystem "North American Scum" - This one's from last year but unless you're an indie hound, you probably don't know it.

Black Box Recorder "The Facts of Life" - From 2000.

Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue "Where the Wild Roses Grow" - No, this isn't anything like that ditzy "Can't Get You Out of my Head" song she sang a couple years back. Wonderfully unique and spooky. Beautiful and DARK. Great song.

L.L. Cool J "Cheesy Rat Blues" - Funny, clever album track about the dark side of trying to "come back hard" in the rap game. Early 90s.

Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians "Nothing" - Everyone only knows that "What I Am" song but this is one of many gems from that same album SHOOTING RUBBERBANDS AT THE STARS.

Paul Simon "The Obvious Child" - Almost impossible to listen to this and not want to move something. One of the coolest drum tracks/rhythm patterns ever.

Frank Sinatra "I've Got the World on a String" - The epitome of cool. One of my favorites from him.

Miley Cyrus...LOL..just making sure you're still paying attention...

My actual last pick:

XTC "Senses Working Overtime" - Underappreciated English alt-pop band with their origins in the late 70s. Best work in the mid-late 80s in my opinion.
