Van, but even though I like some of the Doors stuff I am definately not a Jim Morrison guy. Van Morrison is a great songwriter. I just downloaded Astral Weeks and I'm very excited about it. Jim Morrison is just an acid head who was a decent poet. He didn't write the music, he just kind of riffed over it. I like the acts about equally, but all in all I find Van Morrison far more impressive.

Jim. At least Jim was way more interesting and fun to go see in concert than Van. Van Morrison is a boring singer and Jim had an exciting sound to him with the Doors. So Jim is the cooler Morrison.

Tough question as both did put out some great music. The Doors were one of the best. But Tupelo Honey ranks right up there too.
I would go for Van only because Van had sense enough to live longer.
But Jim will always be cool, we even share the same birth date.
