i've heard people ask this question since the 1960's...through the years there has always been a lot of lame music, but there has always been a lot of great music. it's no different today.

I don't really listen to too much number 1" hits

I listen from all genre.. But I do have a couple of genres i hate

I listen to heavy metal

80's rock n roll

classic rock

SOME indie

alternative rock

I don't really listen to stuff thats been on the TV

Not if you listen to the radio. Larger record companies have a formula for what kind of music is catchy enough to get idiots to buy it after hearing it a few times. Basically, they have been producing different variations of the same song for about 20 years. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amen_break) Listen to bands from smaller record labels. Usually if you have heard of a band but have never heard their music it is because they aren't promoted by a large record label, but are good enough to have a decent sized fan base.

Unless you've heard all the music in the world, there will always be good music. Great music to you may be different than what great music to me means.

There is, you just have to filter the crap. It depends on what genre you like as well. The trouble is many bands just copy their inspirations without adding anything new or evolving their sound, so loads of bands sound the same/are boring. And there's a massive increase in manufactured b0ll0cks which is pretty soul destroying if you think about it... BUT DON'T! There's still decent stuff out there.

Everyone is from a different Era of music. likes different music etc etc. When your Era of music dies another one starts up. there will never be any more great music in your musical perspective but to many young people now this music we listen to is great. rise against underoath a skylit drive saosin etc etc. short in all if you dont like there music of this era you are screwed....

It depends on what you consider great.

I myself think there are some great artists out there, but you may not. [I am a huge Paramore fan. I think their music is great. I don't know what you consider great, sooo, I can't exactly suggest it. But I will. Sorry, I'm being confusing.]

I would say... go look around for something you think is great. And then find more great music.
