i'd say that in every era, majority just followed what was being held in front of them...take the 60s for example, how many people "loved" the beatles because they were the freshest thing happening, a lot of people (just like today), didn't know any better, the fine line is, whether you like them, love them, hate them or you don't care, they played their own instruments and wrote their own songs and sang with their real voices...no autotune, no loops/backing tracks and most importantly, not as much electronic cr@p.. Keith Richards says in his book "Life" something along the lines of "i can't understand how with one microphone i could get a brilliant drum sound, and now with fifteen it sounds like someone sh!tting on a tin roof". i completely agree.. i have always seen it as a 'progression obsession in search of perfection, sending the world in a downward direction'. because same goes for models...todays anorexic freaks are hideous. you wanna sleep with a skeleton? go dig one up. honestly..these starved girls are gross, 4 tonnes of make up and her rib cage outlined through her skin, yeah - real sexy. but back to the point...since it is easier for people to just lay down a loop and get some spastic to say "barbara streisand" and then they keep repeating that over for 3 minutes...seems to work...because i guess majority of people have no imagination, so i say just keep blaring rock 'n' roll and try convince as many people as you can to do the same.

I enjoy to listen to the original rock sound and not a huge fan of the stuff out right now. I think it would be great if the sound could start up again by an old bands comeback. Kind of like how Train came back (there song still had a pop sound to it though). Maybe create a local organization that would create music with one another to appreciate the rock sound.

I really do wish rock was more popular, honestly. But you have to remember that just because you like it doesn't mean everyone does. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.
That being said, I have a suspicion/hope that the reason many people don't listen to classic rock and whatnot is that they simply haven't been exposed to it (or want to follow the crowd...), so... Spread the word!

Let me guess, you are 18 or under, and are disgusted by your peers taste of music, think yours is the best thing ever, and basically want classic rock and other retro rock bands to take over the mainstream?
Apparently you don't pay attention to the R&P section of Y!A very well. Rock (more specifically classic rock) is still extremely popular. Hell, rock as a whole is still pretty popular. I recommend looking into upgrading your 33k modem to at least a 56k one so you can discover that rock is still popular (or at least move out of your cave)

totally agree!
lil wayne and all these new artists springing up like weed are no good (with few exceptions)
although im not totally into 80's music, a good number songs in my collection is from there
im sorry to say that bringing back rock would be pretty hard..
i guess all we could do now is listen to some dedicated rock stations, our collections, and youtube...

Im a fan of 70s. Everyone has different tastes, but some just follow the crowd. It is sad, but i really dont think theres much we can do but just listen to what we love to listen too :)

I've seen more kids on here into classic rock than lil wayne. Maybe it's not as dead as you would like to think.

Rock isn't dead. I know plenty of kids who like rock. Well, I don't think the rock bands they listen to are good though.... but that's only a few people.

By letting them listen to their usual junk, they'll grow tired of it and look for new stuff it happened to me, I used to be a mad boy band fanatic *head desk* and i grew out of it.
