Great question, Darth!

My favourite guitarist is Steven Wilson, of Porcupine Tree. He's definitely not the best guitarist around, but he seems to do exactly what I'm looking for...

The solo in the track "The Sound of Muzack" made me crash my car the first time I heard it, and that's no joke! (nothing serious, just a scrape against a parked vehicle)

I have since decided that there is to be no more Porcupine Tree in the car...

My favorite guitarist is Anton Newcombe from The Brian Jonestown Massacre. I think what convinced me was the live performance of Anemone by them. I like the solo(s) and guitar work in that song.

Another favorite guitarist of mine is Dean Wareham from Galaxie 500 and Luna. What convinced me he was an awesome guitarist was the song Tugboat (which turned me on to Galaxie 500)

Edit:Haha, that is a great way of putting it Darth. Jimi has always been my favorite guitarist. I admit that he isn't the most technically skilled guitarist ever, many have now surpassed him, but the passion and soul within his playing is unsurpassed.

(Awesome question, first of all.)

I'd have to say The White Stripes' "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" convinced me that Jack White is the second coming of Jesus himself. The song itself, mainly the guitar, is just insanely immaculate. Fantastic song, and definitely shows off every side of Jack White, ranging from fast and buggy, to slow, low and sinister.

My favorite guitarists are Hank Shermann and Andy LaRocque..

Hank's playing on 'Don't Break the Oath' is unbelievable.

Andy LaRocque's solo on ''Sleepless Nights'' is what made him my favorite guitarist.
