Why do people say that screamo and hard rock is the only real music?

Screamo isn't even really music. It's just screaming. Why do people call it "real music," like the only good music? Like for instance, on YouTube, people put all those stupid copy/paste on videos like "You say Justin Bieber I say Black Veil Brides." Why do they say that, like screamo and hard rock is real music but then stuff like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez isn't? (P.S. those were just examples, I don't support either of them. Well, I don't support all three, in actuality.) Everything is music, nothing is fake, so why does everyone assume this stuff?

Everyone has different tastes. I would say that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are throwaway music. Just mass produced garbage for a specific age group in a specific generation. But that's just my opinion.

I enjoy many types of music, I prefer Heavy Metal like X Japan, but I also listen to the occasional Jazz and heck even Classical. People you mentioned are obviously immature. They don't bother to listen to other genres because they are close minded. They think they are special because they dont listen to mainstream. Although I dont listrn to mainstream myself, I do not go overboard with the hating. A true music listener will have a variety of cool music on their playlist.

most people who say they listen to Queen and Pink Floyd are full of it. They probably can't name an album of one of those artists. These posers are an insult to the true fans of those artists. As for me, I will always stay true to 80's heavy metal, but I.wont judge you unleds you judge others.

Now, i may get some hate from saying this, but in my experience, a lot of people who are avid about calling metal/hardcore the only real music, are not very "superior" people.



Obviously, nobody is any better than anyone else, but a lot of these people arent exacly in a place to feel better than others. Maybe theyre unattractive, maybe theyre not good at school, maybe theyre not good at sports, whatever. A lot of people just have a need to feel superior to others, so they do it in ways like this.



This isnt just about hardcore/screamo music, anybody who likes stuff outside the mainstream can do this. I personally like all kinds of music, from hardcore to pop to rock to rap to techno to jazz to funk and in all those genres ive fiund people who are hell bent on saying "their" music is the best.



People are dumb and insecure. Eventually they grow up.

screamo isn't "just screaming" there are other instruments, you must not've been listening.



but I agree that the stupid copy/paste messages need to stop, I like mainly rock/metal, but lets say I liked Blues and Jazz, should I spam every music video with Blues and Jazz artists? those cut/paste messages make us heavy music fans look like total morons.

I can tell you don't know what Screamo is due to your emphasis on vocals - Screamo isn't a name for any music with screaming in it, it's a type of Hardcore. BVB isn't a Screamo band - bands like Orchid and Pg. 99 are. Anyway, the term "real" is overused - if something exists, it's real in some way.
