Question:
At what age did you first listen to Led Zeppelin?
2009-03-23 07:06:51 UTC
I like to date my life in terms of pre/post Led Zeppelin.
When discovering music as a teenager I always thought that Led Zep where a 'heavy metal' band and never explored their music because of this.
At 22 I learned what an idiot i'd been and fell in love with Led Zep after being introduced to their unique sound by a friend.

I'm a big rock fan (Cream, Deep Purple, the Who) but noone comes close to generating the same energy and electricity with their music.

Do you love Led Zep?
Have you heard of them but don't know any of their material?
Did Led Zep change your life?
Did you lend Jimmy Page 50p so he could catch a bus?

i was 14! but i couldn't appreciate it to the fullest then...

now, four years later, i'm starting to listening to them again and paying more attention.

i think they are rightfully one of the best bands in history, unlike some other, overrated (in my opinion) ones.

and yes, they WERE heavy metal back then (i mean they had heavy metal influences)! just like the beatles were POP but set up the scene for progressive rock and other rock subgenres.

YES!!!!!! I LOVE LED ZEP!!!!!!!

I first heard them when I was ummm around 8 or 9 'cause my dad always used to play good ol' Zep :) Oh and I'm 17 now, although I guess thats irrelevant.

I love Led Zep, they've gotta song for cheering you up, making you wanna dance, any thing really haha :)

No, I never lent Jimmy Page 50p to catch a bus, but I sure would have done if I'd have seen him XD

My Dad secretly grew me up on them even though my mom thought they were "overrated, selfindulgent crap." blasphemy, eh?? They've been in my life since i was a kiddo wearing the '75 World Tour shirt as PJ's to now when having an original of that shirt is a huge deal to the true fans.

Do you love Led Zep? Absolutely. Different song for any mood.

Have you heard of them but don't know any of their material? I believe even folks who say they don't know the material HAVE to have heard Rock n Roll, Kashmir or Stairway

Did Led Zep change your life? No. it's been around too long for me to have changed it. but it helped develop my taste in music and raised the bar to which no other band has met.

Did you lend Jimmy Page 50p so he could catch a bus? hahahaha no. But i have had a crush on Jimmy since i was 17..... :)

I had heard some of their famous songs before, but I first realised who they were when I was 15. I borrowed a greatest hits compilation from my uncle and that was that. I'm now 21 and I still love them. I remember when I was with my first boyfriend, we used to sit around listening to Led Zeppelin II all the time... actually, my least successful relationship was with a guy who was indifferent to Led Zep. My current boyfriend is a bigger fan than I am.

I know a guy who met Jimmy Page. I am jealous of him :P

I was around 8 when I became aware of the Zep, around the age of 10 mother older sister and mother went to Day on The green concert in Oakland, Ca and didnt take me, I got a t-shirt though, after that is when it ended Jon was dead, and so was Led Zeppelin, he made that band what it was.

Embarassingly enough, I was 17. My parents were always hugely into rock and folk music so I listened to artists like Queen, Pink Floyd and

Bruce Springsteen all my life. But I never remember hearing Led Zepplin until my father bought me a Led Zepplin double-cd for my birthday. Because I'd been listening to a similar type of music all my life, my tastes were pretty much already formulated, so they weren't really a huge impact on my musical tastes. But I greatly admire their work, and really enjoy listening to them. They're a great band.

Hello!!!

Upon viewing your question, beautiful memories of my initial discoveries of Led Zeppelin flood back into my mind! 8-D My father has always been in love with classic rock, and so he has been playing it in our garage since I was about six, so I can safely say that was the first age haha!! 8))

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE, LOOOOOOOOOOVE, and LOOOOOOOOOVE LED ZEPPELIN SO, SOOOO, SOOOO MUCH that is hurts!!! 8)

Led Zeppelin alters the course of my existence each and every single moment hehe! Their music infuses my heart with joy and hope, (Thank You, Stairway to Heaven, Ramble On, Going to California 8-D), and therefore causes me to enjoy life more! =) When I first received an iPod, I searched through my dad's music once more and fell soooooooooooo deeply in love with Zep all over again, and have been listening to them ceaselessly ever since, not to mention dancing to them at late hours of the night! ahahah :D My most ardent love for Led Zeppelin has caused me to attain wonderful friendships with fellow passionate Ledheads, one of which made me a fantastic Led Zeppelin necklace that I will cherish forever :))) From attaining necklaces to singing "Black Dog" at full volume, my Led Zeppelin-loving friends and I are inseperable! :)

Yes, I did lend Jimmy Page money so he could catch a bus but he preferred to take a certain STAIRWAY =D to his chosen destination♥

hehe♥

LOVE ALWAYS♥☺♥

Zeppelin Rocks! I think I probably first heard them on the radio when I was little, but I really started to notice them and listen to them when I was about 12 or 13. I'm 18 now and they rock more then ever.

at the age of 15 it started with AC/DC and then led zeppelin followed on....but to be honest i thought led zeppelin songs were a bit long-drawn although i liked the deep psychology of it (like with the echoing noises/vocals and reverbs on whole lotta love)

despite that tho there was something i always disliked (not hate) about led zeppelin...not sure what

I *first* heard them at some point in early childhood, but didn't know it.

I chose to listen to them when I was about 16 / 17, and bought myself "The Remasters". For a few years, I was happy with just that, then suddenly decided to buy some of their studio albums. Though there are quite a few songs I don't like {mostly from the later albums}, I class them as one of my equal favourite bands...

None of thee above but in my teens i did see them live twice. also saw Grateful dead once and The Band. i know showing my age here. but don't give a dam. listened to real music then not this crap they call music today watched real bands on stage not these poncy bands ya get today.

Biggest disappointment was an uncle of mine took me to work with him coz he was fitting new lights in a studio got there but missed Hendrix by about a minute i know this coz i looked out a front office window and there he was getting into a car. ya see as a teenager he was and always will be The Man.

Love them. First heard them when I was about eighteen or nineteen when I started going out with a biker who was really 'into' them. Saw them live at Knebworth in the seventies. Unforgetable. (Up until then I listened to the general pop of the day.) They in turn led me to the likes of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd etc. I also ended up married to the biker, so I guess you could say they changed my life..lol

i'm 17 and that i assume i'm exceptionally fortunate that my specific team of pals are exceptionally clever while it is composed of song. My favourite artist is Elvis Presley. i like Bob Dylan, CCR, AC/DC, Meatloaf, Johnny funds, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, The Black Keys, Muddy Waters, Etta James, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis. i discover it baffling how human beings can hear, certainly hear to in demand song and say it quite is stable. It sounds undesirable. it quite is repetitive, pretend, robot, Nonsensical and in many circumstances vulgar. very few human beings certainly sing and much less play gadgets. they are announcing "oh nut they write their very own stuff". a three year previous ought to write immediately's song and that i'm not so specific it somewhat is not certainly written by making use of babies. Older song in simple terms sounds passionate, uncooked and touching. The artists the place artists and that they believed in what they the place doing. the only helpful artists out immediately are the black keys and tenacious d. Neither of whom are very powerful, through fact they make genuine song. awaken human beings. EDIT: REAPER, what you mentioned is dumb. The pop stars of the 50s the place Elvis, Chuck Berry, chum Holly, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran. All super. The popstars of the 60s have been the Beatles, Ray Charles,Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, the Byrds, Elvis and many extra super human beings. The 70s popstars the place Elvis, Queen, Marvin Gaye, Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, intercourse Pistols, AC/DC, Stevie ask your self, Elton John All super. The popstars of the 80s have been : Stevie ask your self, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Prince. All super The 90s had : Nirvanna, Eminem, green Day. EDIT : and SPARDUS, in spite of the indisputable fact that I accept as true with you, i'd desire to disagree with what you wrote. skills has not something to do with know-how. knowledgeable human beings the place continuously in the back of the curtain in song.

I didn't lend 50p to Jimmy Page so he could get a bus, but I live in Sussex, England, and my best friend's dad used to sell Jimmy Page his lawnmowers up until 2007!

When I was 8 my dad was playing the first album. I remember grabbing my Teddy Bear by its ear and singing to it 'We are going to go walking in the park every day'.

I liked them more when I was a kid. Cant handle the wailing vocals anymore.

I am now 48 and prefer Black, Death, Thrash and Gothic Metal. But my wife loves them.
2009-03-23 07:28:40 UTC
well, you know, they have stuff on the radio, so i couldnt really say when i first heard them, but i really got into them in middle school, one of the first bands i really got into. I never really thought of them as such, but i suppose Zeppelin in some ways was my musical awakening band- the band that i got massively into at about the time i was turning off the radio and finding music for myself.
