I'm a classic rock type of person. Beatles, Who, Zeppelin, Floyd, etc. I'm not into Lady Gaga and Katy Perry as much and I feel like those type of songs are only remembered for little and are forgotten within 5 years or so.

Today's alternative scene is amazing.

You need to kick aside that radio of yours and grab those indie kids hiding behind them.

You will not regret it...

the music of this century is amazing.

Yes for the people you like and love it, it will be. It's not difference than the music I grew up with, most if not all of it is remembered by some one.

As I still Remember acts like:

Don Gibson

Bobby Day

The Turtles

Strawberry Alarm Clock

The Box Tops

The Association

The Happenings

The Buckinghams

Spanky And Out Gang

Sam & Dave

Gary Puckett & The Union Gap

Edison Lighthouse

Bay City Rollers

The Monkees

Wayne Fontana

Jose Feliciano

Flying Machine

Beau Brummels

Gary Lewis & The Playboys

The Merseybeats

Tommy Roe

New Vaudeville Band

Leo Sayer

The Grass Roots

Cene Chandler

The Tokens

That is just to name a few, and most of which is never mentioned here, because most of it is not known or known little of here. Most people here think the only bands that ever were are The Beatles, Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Deep Purple, The Who, Jethro Tull, Grand Funk Railroad, Steppenwolf, and so on and so on, but that is not true, even though these are all great bands, there also was other great music of that time, such as a happy go little number called Sugar Sugar by the Archies, {not even a real band} but a cartoon.

take care

What you are forgetting is that in those days of the beatles there was also rubbish bands and cheesy pop all around and that stuff has largely been forgotten just as our generations music will be. There will still be big bands from our generation in 40 years that will be remembered such as Pearl Jam, Oasis, Eric Clapton, Smashing Pumpkins, The Killers, Kings of Leon etc and then there will be someone asking the same question but a bit different as follows:

Do you think today's music is worth remembering?

I'm a classic rock type of person. Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis, Pearl Jam, The Killers, etc. I'm not into Futurona Trons and Laser Quest as much and I feel like those type of songs are only remembered for little and are forgotten within 5 years or so.

I don't think our generation's music should be represented by Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. You gotta go deeper than that, there's actually a lot of really good stuff out there now, it's just not popular amongst preteen girls..which for some reason seems to be the target demographic of mainstream music these days. But there's a lot of good music that is popular and I think will be remembered, but isn't neccesarily on MTV or something. Examples: The Strokes, Beirut, Neutral Milk Hotel (who were around in the 90's, but I still hear about more and more people getting into them, and now they're quite popular), well, there are lots more, but i don't feel like giving you a list right now.

I love how you say I'm not into Lady Gaga or Katy Perry, like they're the only two people today making music. People always judge todays music by what they hear on the radio. There is tons of great new music out there and yes it is worth remembering.

I suppose not. I'm not into Katy Perry or Lady Gaga either. I like the music from 10-15 years ago. Like when I was a kid. I'm into steampunk and darkwave, guess the goth style. Remember when..? And the Beatles.. the Beatles rock.

yeah your right becuse nothing has been good enough for people to rember like everyone will rember thriller by mj. becuse he did something ppl would remeber for a long time. who would not forget a song where the musician dances with zombies. mmusic videos today just havent come up with any good ideas like that. all music videos are just the same young people going in a club and getting drunk thats all it is. sometimes doing something weired and different make people remeber. and also theres not been new genres of music coming out. or the music evolving. so theres nothing new and fresh out so people are stuck listening to the bs.

I completely agree wih you!

I listen to AC/DC, Def Leppard, Kiss, Zeppelin etc....

Thats music that was huge in the 70's, and yet people are still listening to it now, The Spice girls was only 10 years ago, and nobody listens to them.

It will be the same with this generation of music.... It will die out, because it's so crap...

Only true music survives :)

Rock On!!!

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry will be forgotten as soon as they quit releasing their . . . what to call it . . .

. . . garbage.

Congrats on recognizing what real music is, although there is a large amount of Beatles music that falls into the forgettable category as well.

Absolutely not. With the exception of very few true metal bands that came out in the 2000s, no. 80s-90s was the best period of time for music.

To find good music, you have to really go underground and because it's underground, it's not going to be remembered. Even if you don't like metal, I would recommend giving this a listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6Y7iLDj9Cg It has no lyrics and is a fantastic piece consisting of numerous influences and is the epitome of the word progressive. It's absolutely fantastic, but it's not something that people are going to remember.

Today's music is trash and unoriginal, so no.

And no, these songs will NOT be considered as classics.

And no, Lady Gaga will not be remembered as "The Madonna of the 21st Century".

Well there are plenty of people who still remember the cheesy disco songs of the 70's and one hit wonders of the 80's so I think they will remembered by those who like them.

Some of todays music is good but I agree with you
YA YA
2011-06-05 22:15:12 UTC
some of it will. what a lot of people don't realize is that 90 percent of the bands from any era get forgotten. like those bands you mentioned from before only comprise a tiny fraction of the bands that existed.

anyways, can you answer mine? it won't post for some reason :( : https://answersrip.com/question/index?qid=20110605150337AAh6GIc
