What David Bowie album should I buy first?

Question

Ok, so I got into Brian Eno a lot and love his stuff, both his pop stuff and ambient stuff, and then I saw that he collaborated with David Bowie in the 'Berlin Trilogy'.

So I decided to look into Bowie and I got 3 of his songs: 'Heroes', 'Changes' and 'Life on Mars'. Heroes is not bad, Changes is awesome and Life on Mars is absolutely incredible!

So my question is: Should I buy Hunky Dory first, since 'Changes' and 'Life on Mars' are on it? Is the rest of the album good too? Or should I get another of his albums first?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Fine albums if there ever was one.



He does have some greatest hits which would make a good introduction.

Hunky Dory is great, and I'd also recommend Station to Station, Low (my favourite of the Berlin Trilogy, personally), Lodger, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Reality, and The Man Who Sold the World.

Oh, and Diamond Dogs.

Yeah id go with hunky dory! I love the tracks on it. Also if you just wanna get into him a bit more, If you search him on youtube it comes up with the most popular tracks, I did that. :)

I would buy "The Man Who Sold The World" because it shows you Bowie's less Poppy side.
