I always enjoyed the Monkees. At one point they sold more records than the Stones and Beatles combined. I'm a Believer, Daydream Believer and the Last Train to Clarkesville stand out. They may have been created for TV but they were a great band, 100 % Rock N Roll history.

PS: Being a life-long resident of New Jersey, I think it is really interesting that the song Pleasant Valley Sunday was inspired by a NJ street. I bet the street sign gets stolen a lot!

Probably Last Train To Clarksville but I also liked the theme tune from the TV show and all the other favorites mentioned here like Pleasant Valley Sunday, Stepping Stone and Daydream Believer.

Here we come

Walkin' down the street

We get the funniest looks from

Everyone we meet

Hey, hey, we're the Monkees

And people say we monkey around

But we're too busy singing

To put anybody down .............

Yes, indeed, rest in peace.

Day Dream Believer! I remember watching their tv show when I was a kid. They were a big deal back then. My sister and I would dance to their records in our bedroom. We had 45s and a record player and played the same records over and over- probably drove my parents crazy! :D

The show's theme song.

Here we come.

Walk down the street.

Get the funniest looks from.

Everyone we meet.

Hey hey we're the Monkees

People say we monkey around.

We're too busy singing.

To Put anybody down.

We're just trying to be friendly.

So come and watch us sing and play.

We're the young generation.

And we've got something to say.

Hey hey we're the Monkees.

You never know where we'll be found.

So you better be ready.

We may be coming to your towwwnn.

Pleasant Valley Sunday. The lyrics have a deeper meaning than most people realize. It sounded as though the younger generation was SCREAMING for help, and saying that the "American Dream" wasn't enough.
