Hi i am a lead vocalist of a rock band and i also play guitar but not for the band cause we already got 3 guitarist for the band. I dont know whether it will turn out to be a good idea but just to bring variety to the band i want to pick violin even though i think the yellow card violinist look absolutely funny in live concerts.So before i pick the violin i want to listen to few good violinist. So guys please write me the name of few good violinist worth listening to or the bands who owns a good violinist.

Check out Nickelcreek, and their lead singer's (Chris Thile) solo stuff.

Also, of course, Dave Matthews Band.

Guitarist Django Reinhardt often played/recorded with awesome violinist Stephane Grapelli.

Check out the Turtle Island String Quartet.

Tim O'Brien has done some cool stuff, too.

no idea what kind of band your in,, but ive just seen the dirty three at all tomorrows parties and warren ellis the violinist with them is absolutely amazing,, he uses lots of delay and distortion effects and sometimes plays the thing like a guitar and screams into it for some really strange effects.. he plays with nick cave too and is part of grinderman, i would check him out, cos he has made me want to learn how to play too..
