I loved it. Thought it was better than the Black Album. Reload and St. Anger were grungy and heavy as hell but I got tired of James wining. They definitely redeemed themselves with Death Magnetic. A lot of people want them to go back to the style they had in the 80's when they were in the 20's they're almost 50 now.

I don't think it is a bad album by any means, but it's obviously nowhere near their best, which is understandable. Metallica used to put out some killer material, and I think people expect them to put out more albums equivalent or even better than those, but that will never happen. People simply expect too much, in my opinion. A lot of bands that were in their prime in the 80's and 90's are still putting out albums, but like Metallica, they're just nowhere near as great as the early albums; it's a common thing.

it was a big improvement from Load/Reload & Saint Anger and there are some classic songs on there (All Nightmare Long, That Was Just Your Life, and more)
but it's not as good as Metallica 1983-1988
