I don't understand. I hate when one drummer will watch another drummer and automatically start saying they suck because of how their set is set up, or how their drums are tuned, or how their technique is. Why can't drummers understand that everyone has their own personal style and their one perception of how they play and sound? Why do people want to compare drummers asking who is better when you need to realize that everyone has their own style? There is really no such thing as who is the better drummer. I understand if your a beginner and your taught how to set up and tune ect, but professional drummers will tell you that there is no right way to tune, or how high your cymbals are, or how high your snare is tuned, ect. Its all about what the person sitting ehind the set likes. It's ridiculous, drummers should realize that everyone has their own style. Another thing, why do people think that a good drummer is one that has a lot of chops and can shred on a set like Tony Royster Jr, and Thomas Pridgen. Why can't "playing in pocket" be acceptable in the drumming world? One last thing, if you see a drummer that is just learning, or has some technical issues to work on, why do they get told that they suck? Should you just recommend tips and show him how to fix it and motivate the drummer? It's so annoying how drummers always attack each other. It's not about competition, it's about the passion of being a musician.

in all reality its help keep their confidence up even though that they might be better. Sometimes they will integrate something that they saw into their setup. Its the same with people who play video games like call of duty. They will all say that they such, they got lucky or even blame it on lag. They do this to boost their confidence. Its either this or they are IGNORNT BASTARDS WHO THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE! but who knows it could be either or

They like to talk smack simply because they, themselves, are not so good at drumming or being a percussionist. They think they everything about it and begin to criticize others because they think its incorrect. Theyre not really a knowledgeable/experienced drummer/percussionist if theyre acting in such a cocky, immature manner. When my friends and I look at other drummers/percussionists we look at everything about them, then we say stuff like "wow, he's pretty good" or other stuff of that manner. The only ones that judge negativley are the sucky ones (or the ones that ARE good and are just a holes about their talent) Not all drummers are butt holes, just the smart, experienced ones :)

It's like chefs they have a set way they do things and everything different is not as good as theirs. It's personal taste but also pride in their work, I think they realize that at a certain point it doesn't matter but they probably want some way to have a hierarchy.

It's like when people try to compare Keith Moon to John Bonham, or Charlie Watts. They all had different styles of drumming and they were all perfect. I really don't know why they criticize each other
