I need help to pick a genre!!! i'm starting a music career and i'm undecisive!!! I'm trying to go for a hard rock alternative metal band thing like Flyleaf and Evanescence and such! But i'm also into more like taylor swift young country music!! its so hard to decide they have both inspired me so much and i'm not sure if i can do both because it would be so weird and people would take me as a joke!!! and i just need advice!!!

We need more post-avant lo-fi noisecore jazz groups in the world. FORM ONE.

If you really love both, than do both. However, I don't think you can do both with one band. I'd recommend having a band that plays the alternative rock music (because that genre works best with a band), and working on some country music as a solo artist. As an example, Rob Thomas alternates I believe every other year touring solo and with his band Matchbox 20. He makes CDs for both, and I've heard he enjoys doing that because he loves working with his band, but has the freedom to choose whatever music he wants for his solo work. Another person who is both solo and with a group is Miranda Lambert. Even though in those cases the artist's solo and group music is in the same genre, who says you can't do to seperate things? Be a breakout crossover!

Listen to Flaming Lips, Pink Floyd, psychadelic stuff, some awesome music is spacey. Listen to Funkadelic and Sly and the Family Stone, listen to Rage against the machine, see what genre you like best

Form a band like A Day To Remember. Some songs are brutal and some songs are soft and melody like or you could go all out Brutal Metal like Chelsea Grin ( who happens to be my favorite band)

But on with ADTR

You don't pick the genre. The genre picks you.
