This definitely looks like a genre I can get into, but I have no idea where to start, so I'm requesting the aid of you prominent R&P-goers and your vast knowledge of jazz fusion/jazz rock.

So..
MQ: Jazz Fusion artist recommendations? You can include 1 album for each (your favorite), if you're feelin' it.
MQ2: What's your favorite artist out of those that you listed?

BQ: Apparently, the sky's falling. Anybody wanna explain this to me?
BQ2: Why is it that humans have not yet developed gills?
BQ3: Would you enjoy the ability to breathe underwater? Why or why not? Would you do anything crazy or fun with your newfound ability?
BQ4: Would you enjoy the ability to fly? Why or why not? If yes, what would you do with your newfound power, assuming you'd be apprehended if you were sighted flying in public.

Great recommendations so far.

MQ:

Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters

Santana - Caravanserai

Nucleus - We'll Talk About it Later

Stanley Clarke - School Days

Pekka Pohjola - Harakka Bialoipokku

Soft Machine - Third

Hatfield and the North - The Rotters' Club

National Health - Of Queues and Cures

Frank Zappa - Hot Rats

Miles Davis - Bitches Brew

MQ2: Probably Miles Davis, but not for his fusion stuff.

BQ: The sky is falling up, since the universe is expanding and everything is moving away from us.

BQ2: We were never in a situation where our survival depended on breathing underwater.

BQ3: Of course, 2/3 of the world is water, I would totally build myself a little town down there.

BQ4: Of course, obstacles like fences or wide rivers wouldn't hinder me. I'd go mountain climbing with no rope without fear of falling down.
